Sipher 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2003 Judging by the other components you listed it does however seem that SG$30 was too good to be true. I would still like to see how much it would cost for the DIYers to knock up a basic CMOY amp. I'd like to encourage them to do it so that our newbies have something they can start with. SHG should be for all & not just people who can afford to pay for the expensive stuff. good idea, N@Z
jarthel 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 opamp is an importang part of the cmoy and there's also the need for a good volume POT as it's also important and the need for good resistors as they are important too. Then again, all the parts are important!
Firefox 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 (edited) Surely a 1/8" input & output socket is adequate for julery's needs. A panasonic volume pot is quite good actually so an Alps blue is not really necessary. Well... Other components like the caps & Opamp will still cost a fair bit. Plus labour charges.... A good volume pot is essential; Otherwise, you'll get great imbalance at lower volumes. Edited July 23, 2003 by Firefox
N@Z 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Why don't someone try to build one & see how much it ACTUALLY cost. It's a potential money spinner & no one is willing to take it on?
jarthel 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Why don't someone try to build one & see how much it ACTUALLY cost. It's a potential money spinner & no one is willing to take it on? hmm 2 ways to make it worthwhile: 1. high labor cost if the quantity is small 2. cheaper labor cost if there's large quantity but for one amp, labor cost would be pretty high indeed!
