Beyer DT990 - how to clean earpads?

I've been searching on the Internet and understand that the DT990 earpads can be taken out by the user for replacement or for cleaning, but can't seem to find instructions on how to do so.

 

Can someone tell me how to do so?

 

Also, what's the best way to clean/wash those velour earpads?

Just remove them from the side. They are held by some material around the rim of the pads. Thats from the experience of a dt880 which i believe is the same
