When I audtioned a pair of SR80s and MS-1s at Jaben, I noticed that the hissing is very obvious, and I'm not referring to when the backlight/screen is on. I get the hissing even with the screen off, playing WAV songs. MY Creative EP630s weren't clear enough at first to reproduce the hissing, but it is noticeable after realizing the presence of the hissing. After using a DAC the sound is also more noticeable, and can get rather annoying when listening for prolonged periods. Is every ZVM like that, or is it just mine? Is mine faulty? ZVM doesnt have optical out nor usb IIRC. correct me if im wrong i dont have much experience on creative products. Edit: oh there is a usb port if you use the dock. then im not sure whats going on then. but if its a DAC then it shouldnt pick up on the hissing. whats the amp you are using after the DAC?
