zhang_junyang 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Ideally, the beta value of a transistor should be taken based on the same operating conditions that it will be operating in the amplifier. 2 transistors that are matched under a circuit may not be matched when they are put inside the amplifier circuit. However in reality, I would not worry too much about matching transistors as they are mostly not critical. An approximate matching using the dmm will do. As a layman in electronics/circuit design, I can't really tell technically it makes sense to match and how the reading may change in the real circuit. Even from the user point of view, I may not even notice the difference if I don't have another identical amp to compare the effect of different components in terms of brand and reading has over its performance.
