Sparrow2000 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Hey all! Im looking for portable headphones in the range 100-300 bucks. Im more into punk/pop-punk/metal/rock music but sometimes can listen to some house. Im a skater/snowboarder(im russian ) couple of questions: 1) Headphone=better quality then IEMs? 2) AMP is a must? I was thinking Audiotechnica ATH-SQ5 maybe... any suggestions? Also, what do you guys think about Skullcandy? I called them the other day, they are coming to singapore by the end of this month. They got pretty cool designs, and not bad sound quality also. Anyways, all help appreciated! Thx

blackmouth0 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 hmmm, are you going for a strong bass one? i mean, bass more then the vocal type? if you are, you can go for AKG 414, less then 100 or some cans from sennheiser, for px 200 is also decent.
Sparrow2000 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Thx! how about more balanced ones? What you think about ath sq5 and skullcandy? Thx for the help)
blackmouth0 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 hmmm, i had used sq 5 before...nt on skullcandy... but to me, skullcandy will give a deeper bass (that's what i had ehard of) sq5 will be more balance then...with some decent bass as well...
Sparrow2000 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Alright then SQ5 or PX200?
blackmouth0 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 hmmm...px 200 is quite small in term of driver size...so only one portion of your ear is been cover... sq5 can cover fully!!

Nywhere round orchard??) thx I have not try the skullcandy before.. but if you want more of people opinions you can go to http://www.head-fi.org here is one of the skullcandy thread http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/what-so-h...-anyway-342739/ Well, then Jaben is the nearest to you... cityhall is around few mrt stops from orchard.. I will think its worth the time to experience some eargasm you need to audition the headphones so that you will know what type of sound signature you like.. can't really rely totally on people comment.. as we always say it is you that is listening to the music.. let your ear decide =) Edited November 9, 2008 by xander
