    iPod Shuffle

Hi Fuwen, First time user of Apple products, so was kinda lost when using I-Tunes, gotten used to it now. I really like my Shuffle, despite its lack of a screen. For me, when its just a short journey out, ill take it, put it on Shuffle, stuff it in my pocket and off i go! Dandy little piece of plastic i must say! One thing i dont like is that it gets scratched way too easily. Despite that short coming, the shuffle sounds as good as my friends' 3rd Gen and 4th Gen 20 gig Ipods. Quite a pleasant surprise from a player of its' minute size. Bass is punchy and tight, at times lending it's self to being over-enthuastic thus making it alittle muddy, but that's a rarity. Treble is crisp and never overly-bright. One thing to note, my E2cs NEVER got along well with the Shuffle. Bass was HORRENDOUS. It was there alright, but it was all over the place. Not the case for my MX500s and Sr-125s though. Pretty sweet on these two. * The shuffle can drive the SR-125s to very loud volumes! Pretty worth it , IHMO, for those who want a pretty, light-weight, no-frills player for just music-on-the-go, the shuffle is the way to go, but if a radio, recording and what-nots are needed, i suggest you look somewhere else ( N200 wink wink ) To sum it all.............I LIKE IT!

  9. hey Rips...hung bro lor...where else? haha Still burning them in now.... = P Lensherr...i cant really tell u now as it isnt fair because i want to let the ATs get pass their burn-in period first...but ill check back with more findings soon!
  10. Hey All! Been a good day today. Watched Electrico and Corrinne May at the Esplanade ( dang...she was using the E5Cs ) And got the earsuits! Firstly, i must say that the packaging is very nice. AT has all that japanese minialist thing going on here..haha... First thing i notice is that its lighter than my current PX200. Folding mechanism is rather innovative, yet the PX200 seems easier to fold and at times, less troublesome. But the ES5s are smaller than the PX200. First impressions. Although it might seem closed, its isolation isnt as good as the PX200s. I would say halfway btw the Eggos and PX200s. It does a commendable job on the bus though. Fit and comfort. The ES5s are comfy, the earpads dont clamp down hard and afterawhile seem non-exsistant. The headband is rather tight though but nevertheless comfy. There is no band-adjustment to adjust for fit, but rather, the ES5s use an innovative method called "Swing Adjust System" to adjust for fit. Instead of the band moving the housing of the drivers swivel around a joint to fit for size. Build quality is solid, with all moving parts "clicking" solidly and moving smoothly. I esp like the subtle mat finish of the plastic. Sound. im currently in the process of burning in my earsuits with Outkast's "Speakerboxx" but primary listening reveals the ES5s to be very CLEAR. my PX200s seem supremely veiled compared to the clarity of the earsuits. Timing , precision and clarity seems to the forte of the ES5s upon first listen. Mid-range is esp sweet with a rather nice treble ( that can be abit harsh at times, but i suspect burn-in will tame it ) Bass is there, but is not the ampiflied kind of bass found on my PX200s. It's polite and at times shy even, but with Speakerboxx on repeat duty tonite, i certainly hope that will change! haha.... The ES5s seem to give the PX200s a good run for its money, esp with that very sweet midrange and clarity which seems lacking in the PX200s ( Infact, i was surprised to find me comparing the clarity somewhat akin to my Grado SR-125s, but kinda lacking the impact. But timing, pace and rhythm were similar. ) Time will soon tell who is the king of portables........but the fight is rather close for now. Will report back with more findings if i have the time. Note : listening was done on a Creative Zen touch with Mp3s encoded at 256 and connected to a A47 portable amp.
  11. Hm...to my knowlegde, its not removable. What i heard is that Sennheiser used a higher quality cable in the 595s then the 650s...so there's no need for modding......i might be wrong though.........anyone else???
  12. very interesting indeed.... Will definitely be on the look out for it! thx sigma!
  13. Hi Sigma! Ive heard some good stuff about the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.... Is it classical? How is it? Pardon my ignorance...
  14. In camp on a public holiday. On duty. God this sucks. Currently listening to The Juliana Theory - Emotion is dead on my Zen Touch. Thank god for music.
  15. Listening to : The Flaming Lips ( 2 Albums ) The Soft Bulletin Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Some Pink Martini too... Hang on Little Tomato
  16. UPDATE! ( Still cant get my lazy arse down to writing a review though - Will leave you guys with nuggets of info ... ) Using the 595s with my Zen Touch - > CMOY ( A47 variant thingy ) The harshness when i first used it with that combo was very much evident, with alot of background "noise" esp when it hit the high notes... I put it down to the 595s being picky with MP3s, but i was quite surprised when it didnt sound that way when i plugged it straight into my com ( Creative Audigy ) Weird, well my dad has been using it religiously every nite so i guess that burned it in alittle and the harshness first heard is now all but almost gone, with slight hints of sibiliance at the high notes ( Not the case on my CDP + Amp ) I guess the 595s are more picky about source, and it definately shows at times. later!
  17. Yay! give us your impressions when u get it.....
  18. Hi SoulReaver, Apparently there is a review on headfi.org regarding the G74s, Here's the link :G74 It is said to have "tight and huge bass" Hope this helps abit.. Cheers, Wil
