  1. Huangyong, thanks, understood. Electronics is not my strong point, I only like to listen to music.
  2. Huangyong, is there any advantage of using the discrete rail splitter from Sijosae as compared to using a resistor/opamp setup? (besides the fact that it looks real cool )
  3. huangyong, good to know that opamps cheaper than TLE. The TLE is very fragile to reversed polarity of power, burnt two due to accidental connection. Thanks.
  4. jason, why can't use the TLE instead of the opamp, won't it be cheaper? Just a thought.
  5. Awesome!!! speechless!!

    Low power op-amps

Thanks all, I was hoping for some personal experiences. Have read the page in Tangent many times. But thanks anyway.
  7. Hi all the DIY gurus, I would like to know which opamp has the most optimal audio quality/power consumption ratio in your opinion. I am building a battery powered 3-channel CMOY, ie 2 opamps, for a friend and want to know which opamp will sound good and use the battery longest. Thanks. BTW - seems this site was down today? Am I right?

In this case, I fully agree.

You guys are making me feel so deprived. I never had these when I was young, too poor. Made my own toys. But I did get to enjoy playing with them with my son.

    SOIC8 to DIP8

Sounds like the MAX chip is good for single 9V battery operation!! Wow, that's interesting. Is the power consumption low as well? Thanks.

    DIY LC-king

bpribadi, the isolation is electrical and it conduct heat to the heatsink? I didn't know about this, where do one get this material? Thanks.
  12. bpribadi, I am doing this from airport, waiting for flight to take off. I like the case, I want to put my pimeta in something of a similar size. Where did you get it?
  13. bpribadi, my cds collection is very old and too many to listen to all. Some CDs are already unusable due to oxidation. I remember advertisement say CD will last forever, it is only about 20 years and some already can't be read. My records last better. I recently moved most of my CD to my office where at least it is aircon during office hours.

digi, re: power supply pic, the two transistors bolted to the heat sink have a blue separator. What is this light blue material? Thanks,
  15. I second bpribadi, only please make it next weekend, I have conference away until Friday.
  16. Thanks guys, I can see my wife will be thrilled by yet another dry cabinet to join the others containing my camera gear. But yes, that looks like the only way. What to do? Thanks again.
  17. tropicalrips, I have been looking for a case like the cool blue transparent Hammond in the pic you posted on 17 Oct. I can't find it in Farnell. Please tell me you got it in Singapore...

    Nice Casing

Many have expressed this wish and so do I. I am thinking of the aluminium workshop near my office. Must make friends with the workers and see if they can do this sort of thing.
  19. av98m, that's a good idea. Give me a good reason to dispose of those CDs I don't listen to anymore too. I TRY to stop buying CDs as I think I have too many to listen to.
  20. Thanks guys, it is true many of my CDs have not been touched for months and even years. Unfortunately after I cleaned them, the fungus come back again. I have been listening to CDs since they first came out, years ago. Yep, I'm an old man.
  21. Hi all, I am really frustrated with the fungi growing on my CD collection. Almost all the CDs have this problem. I have to clean them before listening to them. And the fungus come back after a couple of weeks. Apart from "aircon-ning" my CDs (no aircon) what can be done to prevent this problem?? Suggestions and tips anyone? Thanks.
  22. Hi Sky, Hung Bros do not have a neutrik locking 1/8" socket. I just asked them a few hours ago. I have never seen one, even on the net.
  23. tropicalrips, very nice, well done. 3 leds, you got the ah beng look down pat. I was thinking of putting one of those colour switching ones on mine for the same type of look but wonder if it will be noisy.
  24. I have just switched out an OPA 2107 for the AD8620 in my Pimeta and through my DT880, it sounds very very good. I think the AD8620 is a good match for my headphones and it sounded too bright earlier probably because my pimeta has not run in sufficient yet. If you are planning pimeta/PPA and using DT880, you may want to consider the AD8620 but only after running in your amp for a long time.
