  1. I have already got the parts. Thank, guys! Also got some DIP for mounting of the AD type of op amp. Already spoilt one. Too much solder. First time doing this. Fortunately have not solder the op amp. Problem is that these things are so small and my hands like legs (literally translate from hokkien). Good news is that I completed 2 nos of Ipod mini line out cable. 1 using a microphone cable and the other using a spare headphone cable.
  2. I need to buy some 1/4 or 1/8 watt 1% metal film resistor. I am a novice at this, so please be gentle. Can I get them at SLT and how much approx is one piece?
  3. I am also using EAC/Lame combination. For this combination, I would recommend the alt-preset standard which rips to mp3 format at approx 192 kbps. Your mileage may vary. What I suggest is ripping songs which you hear, preferably from several genres. Rip each song at 128, 192, 320 and then take a listen to them. Decide where the best compromise with regards to quality and size lies.
  4. Anyway as a update to this post, I went to get Diana Krall, Elton John, Britney Spears. The Diana Krall and Britney Spears DVD are alright, similar in standard to Norah Jones. However the quality of the Elton John one is quite bad. Imagine, 20+ songs on 1 DVD. In addition, the Elton one comes with 2 CDs! So, dont get the Elton John DVD unless you are a fan or want the cds.
  5. idkfa, I may be getting the e4P soon instead of the UM2, as suggested by you. So I know who to blame if I don't like it. (Just kidding!)
  6. It looks like she is lip-syncing cause the words and the mouth movement do not sync at time. However this could also be due to the way she sings. Will be getting more tonight. But IMHO the Norah Jones one worth getting. However, make sure you have heard and like her songs. My wife complain that it is too slow, making her very sleepy. She prefers Ricky Martin! Unfortunately, they don't carry his music.
  7. You certainly are very perceptive. When watching a few songs on the DVD, sometimes the movement of her mouth does not match the sound. Maybe it's her way of singing.
  8. I have 2 other original DVD concerts. Namely, Eagles - Hell Freezes Over and Barry Manilow - Manilow Live!. Comparing the Norah Jones DVD to them, the quality seems to be on par. In fact, will be going down to get the Diana Krall and also another copy of the Norah Jones for my brother-in-law.
  9. Both are not known for their bass. Their forte are their clarity. The Shure e2c have better bass.
  10. Not sure if this is the correct forum. But anyhow, spotted Norah Jones DVD Live in New Orleans being sold at Jurong point on the ground floor for $12.90 each. 2 for $20. Sold by a company called Art Laser. Seems that the DVDs are from China thus the cheap prices. The quality is quite good. Only limited amount of singers available. Elton John, Diana Krall, Britney Spears and Westlife.
  11. The_Flash. Email Shure to request for free samples of the Ultra soft flexible sleeve for the E2c. When your phone arrives, try all the sleeves and foamies before deciding which one is better suited to your ears. Spent some time getting a proper seal. Only when you get a proper seal can you obtain the optimum sound. You can go to www.shure.com for more information about how to wear your phones. Of course, instructions are also provided with your phones. The medium flex is equalvilent to the medium foamies and so forth. Each type comes in 3 sizes to suit different ear canals.
  12. I know that you got yours from discountheadphones. The Ultra soft flexible (black) sleeves are optional and they were only available this year. When they were first appeared on the market, people who owned the E2c requested for free samples from them and they got it. Trying emailing them, hopefully they will sent some to you. No harm trying.
  13. Sorry about that. Assume it was the e3c that we were talking about. For the e2c most people find the flex sleeve uncomfortable and prefer the foamies. Not sure if your e2c package contains the ultra soft (black) sleeve. If it does not, you can try emailing Shure and requesting for free samples from them. Please include your date and place of purchase.
  14. The e3c when ordered from Discountheadphones will cost you US$120 + US$13. Which cost approx S$220. At SLS, they are being sold for $290.
  15. The e3c comes with 2 types of flex sleeve. The normal (translucent) type and the ultra soft (black) type. Most people use either the ultra soft type or the foamies. Instructions for insertion are included with the phones. Alternatively you can order the triple flange sleeve (optional) from Shure which should provide more isolation.
  16. Yeah, he seems very enthusiastic over it and the black e4 shure look sexy! Will have to wait till mid of next month before they release the e4 series.
  17. Wah, you are very quick. Already ordered. Not really sure how long the shipping, but with discountheadphones, the shipping is trackable. Let us know of your impressions when you get them. Also remember that it takes some time to acclimatise yourself to this particular pair of phones and make sure to try all the tips. A good seal is of the utmost importance.
  18. Thanks for your input. May skip the UM2 and opt for the E4p instead as suggested by idkfa.
  19. You can get the Ety 6i in Singapore from Hung Bros at Sim Lim Square, 3rd floor. Think they are selling for around $250. In another forum, someone mentioned that the Ety 6i was selling in limited quantities at the Apple Center in Peninsular Plaza for around $225.
  20. If you buy from discountheadphones, you will get the complete package, warts and all, including all the filters, cleaning tools, bag etc. The shipping should be around US$13 or US$14 if I am not wrong. Infested red did mentioned US$12.95.
  21. The Sharp MD33 is not sold over the counter in Singapore. The only way to get them is through the internet via Bluetin or Audiocubes. However, it may not be the right choice for you cause the Sharp MD33 highs can be pretty shrill. IMHO, the better choice would be the E2c although at $155 locally, it is above your budget. The E3c is a step up sonically but the local cost at around $300 may put you off. However do note that most of these canal type phones do not output solid bass and can be a let down especially if you are into rock music. They are fine with blues though.
  22. He initial impressions were rather positive. Hopefully by the next 2 weeks more people will have receive theirs and we can then get a better picture. idkfa, do give us your impressions when you get yours.
  23. Base on your budget alone, the others you can take a look as well are the Koss PortaPro and the Senn PX100. Both are over the head portable headphones.
