Let's say due to unfortunate situations, my budget has been forced to increase to "higher", what would be the best choice around a $1000.( Need to eat bread for another week or so) i tested the Grado RA-1 at stereo when i bought my sr80, but funny enough the ok volume was somewhere 1 o'clock and i email grado and they reply that its normal....... anyway, it sounded good though. So, which where what?

That explains why there isn't many shops in Singapore that carry headphone amplifiers..... any of those that are good and for sale in shops? i also read that the RA-1 from Grado(dunno about the clone version) are only design to drive headphones at 32ohms like the Grados so meaning if i have intention to buy the senn headphones over a 100ohms it wouldn't be compatible?

Ok, another question, so if money isn't a factor, what would be the diff between the DIY headphone amp u guys make and those made by Grado or Audio techica? i mean they cost more but do they sound really much better? Or is it totally unnecessary to spend that money?

$350 for the Grado SR225. i just bought the SR80 recently, wanted to get the 125 but in case you dun know, the 125 comes only in 1/4" plug so it wouldn't fit into any portables i have and adding another adapter to convert it into 3.5mm makes the 125 even less portable and managable. So, i settled for the sr80 for my portables and i'm planning for the 325i for my home use. i'll be visiting Stereo again to check if they can give me a discount on the 325i since i've already bought the sr80 from them. Oh yeah, almost forgot.... the 125 is much better in the bass compared to the sr80, tighter and more control especially when i crank the volume up, vocal is clear and transparent even at low volume.

Ok, what would be your reference CD or song if you had to choose to test when you go on a headphone hunt? Let's say all the headphones you wanted are available for testing....

Thanx for the info manz, the parklane one does sound more interesting, myabe i'll drop by next week. But in regards to hung brothers, i think i would rather go stereo, much friendly people there, still i'll usually still drop by hung brothers everytime i'm at SLS.

So how? just sit back, switch the aircon on,load your fav CD, pour some chill red wine and a set of good can over your head and enjoy music the way u like it.....

i check with the salesperson this afternoon, they confirm that they get direct from MBD. and the Grado sponge replacements are going for $15 a pair.

i'm using the sony scd-1 with audio note dac 2 in the living room but i have absolutely nothing in my bedroom except my sony radio clock. i have no intention to move any from the living room that's why i'm considering on something to start with. I'm new to all these headphone stuffs but they seem so interesting....

So moral of the story is if u need to buy brands like beyer, buy the expensive one??

Hey, where can i get the sharp earphone u guys are talking about?

Tried the ath-cm3 liaoz, waste time waste money i think its partly becos the earphone doesn't fit in my ears nicely, too big therefore i was listening to all the highs and mids all the time. Anyway, bought mine at Stereo in Causeway point, CD rama at popular bookstore also have, Best Denki also have, shouldn't have a hard time finding them.

Any idea why its so expensive? i mean it looks almost like the MDR-EX71 i owned except very expensive looking package.....

What would be a good headphone amplifier to look into if i have around $300? And would the CD player make a hugh difference even if i have a good headphone amplifier?

So for those who have personally heard both of them, which is better? If say both are available in Singapore.

i tried the grado sr-80 at a shop in woodlands, other than the thick cable i have no complaint. But that's just me.
