  1. it's just a cable management thing I think you can find it in shops selling ipod accesories another alternative... recable ur headphones?
  2. I think I've seen some tubes in Koba
  3. just squeezed it in , do it slowly, still managed to slip it in from LHS, SLT 2nd floor
  4. Here are what I've DIY-ed (idea was from head-fi, I'm only a copier hehe) one using straight mini, another is neutrik RA mini cable is canare L4E5C shielded, with the shield going only to the ipod common ground in any case any1 is interested, I still have some left-over of the ipod dock connector. PM me about it
  5. hmm got alkaline rechargables? come to think of it, yea there were once. but I guess they're not popular. can help u. but yeah, when can we meet up? haha without meeting up, how to troubleshoot? hahaha which days are ur free days? weekends?
  6. one more thing to add when u're buying from online apple shop can get discount if u're somehow a student or a teacher
  7. for the input cap, look here: http://www.tangentsoft.net/audio/input-cap.html even tho the attenuated freq is way too low for us to hear, I think the graph in that link, or the graph being linked up from that site can show very well why the need of the attenuation way lower than what one can hear. and yeah, I agree with jason, taking out the v ground op amp somehow degrade it in the sense of the output impedance will suffer (higher than with LM6171). however, now I've got a replacement op-amp that can run at similar voltage. well, I guess I was stupid. haha. actually the MAX4167 has within its family another similar one, MAX4166, single op-amp, DIP form factor. so yeah, currently I'm waiting for it. abt the NiMh batteries; one dont need to discharge it fully to recharge. here's the comprehensive answer to that: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/ in gist, actually it's not advisable to purposely discharge it. no such thing as memory effect on NiMh batteries. maybe true for NiCd. but who use NiCads nowadays? hehe Kube: regarding the 9v battery, yeah it sux. that's why I try my best to avoid the 9v batt. but u've got the 8 AA batts. so make use of them. a lot better. able to withstand a hell lot more current draw than the 9v batteries. anyway, are we supposed to meet up? need details on where n when please. hehe
  8. hmm after ur testing, what did u do? wat op amp do u use? wat's ur gain setting? the cap 470 uF shd be quite ok. that one just to provide clean supply into the circuit, but as u're using battery, well I dont see lower values of the caps will cause oscillations. EDIT: also if possible take pics of ur PCB, both sides. a clear and sharp ones will help us troubleshoot better, IMO
  9. I see at home make your own power supply even more economical I'll make one myself maybe when I'm going to start I'll check with you again. the resistor values.. hmm... I've got made some changes the input line high pass filter, I've increased them to 100k each. make the attenuation freq 10 times lower. it means that more bass freq can pass thru instead of going off to drain hehe
  10. sure can AA can provide a lot more power than ur 9v but it's going to be huge man
  11. find me I can help u "provide" drilling tools other machinery... err.. a bit complicated. but can be worked out with btw, drilling is such simple job if you've got all the right tooling
  12. May I know the source of distortion? the MAX4167 as far as I've read its data specs, it cant drive high voltage neither high current then with no LM6171, wat's the direct impact? the virtual ground not as precise? am I correct? as there's a lack of buffer hence the v ground will be affected by load itself? luckily, I have no high impedance cans highest I have is 60 ohm only
  13. ermmmm I am staying in Jurong area
  14. hmmm how did you fail? is there anything I can help you?
  15. what's not working? cmoy2 u got from jason?
  16. well, from school too see how later on, if i can afford the time to do it
  17. maybe I'd do it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/squ...RW_3442_web.jpg u can see the one I did. pictures not emphasized on the dock connector tho'
  18. hmm why buy sendstation? I got some of the dock connectors (ordered 10 at one go in case any1 wanna get it off me, SGD6 each) then u can make watever u wanna have from ur ipod data port pinout and pics can be seen here: http://ipodlinux.org/index.php/Dock_Connector I've made one line-out connector using it myself. But too lazy to take pics now.
  19. LM6171 is for the buffer of the virtual ground of ur circuit see here : http://www.tangentsoft.net/elec/vgrounds.html quoted from tangent: Different op-amps, headphones, and resistor values will give a different split. hence the LM6171 is to buffer it and make sure the splits are equal, regardless wat headphones u're wearing, op-amps used. I'm not sure which resistors meant in that sentence I took LM6171 away to save batt and also, it cant run on less than 5.5v. My audio op-amps can. so I sacrifice the buffer for more convenience. AAA batts have a lot more stamina than the 9v batt. Kube: see how... haha... High chance is that I cant make it for you guys. not much time left in school to do all these things anymore
  20. alu case was done by myself. well, the batt been running ermmm for more than 20 hours i guess still running strong I think just in case u wanna know, the batts I'm using are the Sanyo AAA 800mAh
  21. my Cmoy2 is done! with lotsa mods within the circuit itself tho' here's the pic: mod done: 1. changed the chip to max4167, in order to accomodate AAA batteries, hence now running on 3 AAAs 2. R4 and R8 changed to 100k, in order to allow lower freq (1.5Hz vs 15Hz in the original design by jason) attenuation for the input high-pass filter 3. took out the LM6171, and shorted pin 2 to 3. LM6171 cant run with voltage lower than 5.5v
  22. from http://www.ilounge.com/ go get it and here some hint abt the SQ of the new 5G ipod : http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/...ut-the-5g-ipod/ things to highlight is abt the noise and the bass performance of the 5G ipod so yeah, enjoy it. while I need an amp for my 4G b/w ipod to drive my senns properly
  23. nano is just the same as the rest this fact actuall pissed off many ppl in head-fi
  24. agree with feather the wheel and screen, can be covered. many ways to cover it lo. from cheapo ways or just buy some more accessories. haha mine ipod 4G too but I guess iSkin shd've made something to fit 5G Ipod enjoy ur new 5g haha from iLounge it's reported that apple official stated that 5G will have significant sound quality improvement over the older brothers. It'll be as good as shuffle which apparently to be the "gold" standard of SQ within ipods family
  25. I use silicon skin + the screen protector, which is not the PDA style. but a thick acryllic getting ipod video?
