12VA is too big a trafo, but it wont cut it when u wanna power up a pair of speakers errm actually the trafo that I currently put for the SOHA is 12VA rated too then for rectifier, see the label on it. anything that's rated 50V and 0.5A and above would be adequate for 3 pins plug socket or the IEC one all would be similar looking from the wiring side, if the earth is on top, then ur live is at the right side LED can be added on later. hahaha it's just for decoration purpose

hmm I've suggested him to use cat5e coz it's rather cheap and I've used a solid core cat5 for my senns recabling (3m length). it never break so far if still worried, there's stranded cat5e. but again, have to consider the price it doesnt make sense if u use very expensive cables for it i told him, up for him to choose and just get anything cheap and yet good enough

u cant optic is digital and ur amp cant convert digital to analog out of thin air get a DAC that can take optic input then that DAC, connect to ur amp no such thing as a DAC in a wire, like what you want, just a toslink to mini jack different nature even electrical digital out cant be just converted to or from optic signal and as far as I know, hornet is just an amp, no DAC

earth is at 0 potential it wont kill anything but dun try holding live wire on one hand, the other hand holding earth

for those who's still facing problem with buzzing or hum, but no such thing when the vol pot at min or max, I've got the way out trying tying the output jack's ground to the earth of ur mains this eliminated all my problem with this problematic source. with audigy2, there's no ground loop problem ( I assume that's due to ground loop)
