  1. Sandisk e200 series, iRiver clix... Of course, some higher end (read: more expensive ones) really look interesting, eg. iriver E10, iAudio 6 (saw one on classifieds). Quite unsure still, but keeping my options open.
  2. The super fi. may be what you want, especially for bass heavy tunes (super fi 5EB [extended bass]), but note that the price difference is rather great.
  3. Opps, I know I am off topic, but what is MBD? Mod answers: Music By Design
  4. For the price, UM1 is really one of the best choices. You may want the ER6i though, which has an entirely different sound signature (more analytical). The CK7 is a (slightly) cheaper alternative, although it is not a true IEM, it has isolation properties as it is a canal phone. The CK7also another analytical IEM. The E2 and Super fi. 3 are the last "mainstream" alternatives, being much bassier (though the E2 is rather muddy/uncontrolled). Of course, you may want a less common/more exotic one, like the d-JAYs, or the iM716 (which theory_87 will rave about), that is rather much the most value-for-money, being in between the ER6i and ER4 (when used at the HD-mode) at a much lower cost. The bass mode on the iM716 will make it more like a Shure model though. THe iM716, may not be really appealing to you though, given that you prefer bass-heavy tunes. In the end though, it is really up to you and your personal preferences. Do audition some before buying. May want to refer to the following threads: E2 & UM1 (my first post) ER6i & UM1 Or you could go over to headfi for an endless number of articles and comparisons.
  5. Happy Birthday! Did you know, that the song Happy birthday is copyrighted, and owned by "Summy-Birchard Music, now a part of the giant AOL Time Warner media conglomerate" Urban Legends Page Then again, you may not have wanted to know that.
  6. Really wanted to try out tri-flanges, but haven't got the chance to buy them though, and am saving up for a DAP.
  7. Shesh, missed out on the whole thing... Once they arrive though, I'll be begging for reviews...
  8. ^ Well, I'll defintely talk about it, though am not too confident of a "aye" reply.
  9. SE sells the Shure clear flex. Using them, though I still prefer complys.
  10. I feel that the UM1's bass is rather tight, though I haven't heard the HJE50 to be able to compare. The E2 is known for its bass, but it is said to be rather uncontrolled. The ER6i is known more for its clarity, but should have decent bass if a proper seal is found.

    DAPs

Saw that on another forum. Thanks anyway, but I can't afford a 8GB player. Looking at Dell's advertisement for Zen Sleek 20GB (on the same page), only US$199. Sigh...

Read that somewhere. Not too sure if it will materialize, though I really hope so.
  13. ^ Just like in headphones, right?

    Eartips

Am in your shoes, especially about the long and short comply foams. Have tried the shure clear flex, found the sound more open, at the cost of substantially less isolation though. Try the long comply foams again, but try not to push too deep, not allowing the rubber part to bother you. You'll either get used to it, or never will, but the long complys are really the best, when you value the isolation:sound ratio (created this term myself ).

^ Urg... you just burst my bubble.

Since it's not really THAT urgent, I'll wait for a reply on the thread.

Does Stereo sell any of them?

That'll be in USD? Do they sell in Singapore (meaning, I can avoid buying online, a process which I dislike a lot).
  19. Headfi DR150 official Impression Page Enjoy.

Urg.... That seems rather far off. How about the sansa e250?

    DAPs

Am deciding to get a new DAP soon (maybe by September, ). Budget: $300 Shortlisted a few candidates, though some are more attractive than the others. 1 - iriver clix 2 - sandisk sansa e250/260 3 - Creative Zen V 4 - Sony 4GB player (forgot the name) Really like the clix, though am unsure of availability and price (which should be quite high). Alternative is the sandisk e260, though the e250 will match my budget better. Hate to say this, but would not want a Creative, after my micro gave up on me recently. Don't want an Apple either, for my personal reasons.
  22. Looking at your list, I would think that the iRiver clix fits the best. Colour LCD, decent build quality, aesthetically pleasing, flash memory, video and .swf playback. What more could you ask for? More than 2GB of space.
  23. Complys are the best tip, in my opinion, for isolation. In fact, they may be better than customs for that purpose. Some prefer hard-tips (ie. soft flex, clear flex) for better sound though.
  24. That'll mean most LCD panels of today, right?
  25. Must be really rich to blow money away like that. "Money, Money, Money, Must be funny, in a rich man's world".
