  4. Latest status on Amazon's website : We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed
  5. i remember seeing the 32ohms version of 770 880 and 990 at meier-audio's website. http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/
  6. The price. I got a 2nd hand Senn HD580 instead. Maybe one day i will tempted by the DT990 again Not really that much DIY needed. Mostly tube rolling? Well it's like changing a light bulb If have chance can let you try my XS708, then i can try ur 990 with my XS also Yup. Night time is the best time to listen to music By the way, when i use the LDM+ to drive my 300ohm HD580, usually it's between 10-12 oclock position, in a quiet room though.
  7. I almost bought the 990 also.. I was testing it with the Diana Krall live CD And I nearly ordered it through BHphoto when they had the special price. It's hard to resist it ... Anyway... how about getting the XiangSheng 708? no exposed tubes... but it does get a bit hot after a while.
  8. That's the norm i think. Maybe you would like to try sending them another email It took me a few emails to n fro before i was able to get them to order something. That's about 2 weeks ago. Until now they have not gave me any updates on the status.
  9. From the Amazon order page. Note that this is just the estimate. Not Yet Shipped: 15 items - delivery estimate: September 25, 2006 - September 29, 2006
  10. Yup no direct replacements for the 6Z4 i think, unless you mod the circuit. I've bought some 6N1P also.. haiz.. maybe in the future if I diy some amps... can use them for cosmetic purposes also
  11. Replacements for the 6Z4 (the tall tube at the corner on its own) are difficult to find. So far these are the 2 known sources which stocks the 6Z4 http://eshop.diyclub.biz/product_info.php?...products_id=336 http://www.audiotriodes.com/en/shop/flypage/product/240.html
  12. Ah XS 708's own thread Something to add... It's been known lately that the 6N1, which is the tube at the front in the display, is only used as cosmetic purposes. That is, it does not contribute to the sonic quality of the amp itself. As for my XiangSheng 708B, these are the changes so far : 1) Replaced stock power cord with Belden 19364 cord (Initial impressions: Tighter bass, bigger soundstage) 2) Replaced 6N3 with Western Electric 2C51 3) Replaced the 2 6N11 with Electro Harmonix 6922
  13. Anyone intesterested in getting 6Z4 spares? I'm wondering how long will the 6z4 last

I've seen some photo labs selling those small boxed version, about the size of a portable amp. But it's more worth it to get the bottled type.

  16. Maybe it's the same problem as edwin's http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=5443&st=60#

If humidity is of a big concern to you.. should consider getting a electrical dry box instead. You can store your CDs and headphones inside. You can get these at Carrefour or those big camera stores like Cathay Photo, Alan Photo etc.
  18. Yup agree on getting a DAP. I'm currently using a CD63 mkII also. Will be doing the mods on it Maybe a DAC and a pair of speakers later
