  1. BTW, K518DJ is the same as K81DJ except for the color scheme.
  2. Here is my review of Radiance+, as part of my multiple IEM review thread over at Head-fi.
  3. Bi-flanges give a less in-you-face sound with a little better soundstage and separation, but at the cost of tiny amount of bass.
  4. I was switching b/w the two. Shure is more controlled, smooth, better separation and isolation (slightly) while the stock is more energetic, detail and airy. For my own preference, I think I prefer the stock just a little over the Shure. Still burning in as I write, so I haven't made up my mind which to stick with
  5. Just got this a few days ago from the new store @ Plaza Singapore. Must said I am impressed, even before any burn-in. I'll be doing a review on this over at Head-Fi on the upcoming week once I put 100hrs or so on it.
  6. LM6171BIN is operational amplifier, BUF634P is amp buffer, thay are not compatible to each other directly!, Dont swap them or you may just might burn something on your board.
  7. I got it fro farnell, made by Multicomp, part #662392. They got other size too. http://au.farnell.com/jsp/search2/browse.j...6&No=25#results
  8. Opamp does not come with socket. Farnell should have them under 'connectors'. Anyway, i make small changes to my box so i can use single rechargable or two alkaline in parallel.
  9. Not really know why people do it or would it have any effect of sound, i just doing it so i can manage them better...
  10. I have rolled quite a few opamps: OPA2134,OPA2227, OP270EZ/OP270GZ and OP275. So far i like OP270EZ the best. The one i just posted has OP270GZ in it. This amp will stay on my desktop, while the other one will go out with me. I fit ot in a spare box i got last time, pretty tight and no place for anything else...
  11. I wil just use two layer of large scotch tape.
  12. I will give you a stardard wiki answer: "Dissipation factor (DF) is the ratio of a capacitor's resistance ® to its capacitive reactance (Xc). DF is usually expressed as a percentage. DF will vary depending on the dielectric material. In low dielectric constant (K), temperature compensating, ceramics DF of 0.1 to 0.2% is typical. In high dielectic constant ceramics DF can be 1 to 2%. However, lower DF is usually an indication of quality capacitors when comparing similar dielectric material." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissipation_Factor The lower the DF is, the less likely the charge will be lost due to non-electrical factor, in general. I am not an electronic engineer so i cant say how low is good, but i will say get the lowest you can afforted. Also, you can just drop the op270ez in. The other question about mounting in tin is: you should use isolated audio jack and switch to avoid ground problem. they are more pricy but better in quality and have less interference. (or you can isolate them yourselve.) I do connect the two together before and notice no difference.
  13. The cap seems ok. I use Panasonic, it has a smaller Dissipation Factor than your (loss of charge by heat, etc). Try to you can get one with smaller Dissipation Factor, if not, i dont think it will affect too much. For mountiing into a tin, the tool you need is just a drill the can work with metal. Do remember to insulated the base.
  14. I have op270ez (the one i am using) and op270gpz, different in input voltage offset 150µV vs. 0.25mV. Sound wise they are very difficult to tell apart. But i feel ~ez has stronger output.. I bought all my op-amp from Farnell, maybe mouser didnt carry them. Newark USA (Farnell?) does have it, here is the link: http://www.newark.com/NewarkWebCommerce/ne...=AFC-TL10000001
