  1. Isnt open headphones all kinda leaky lol. Kinda sad you dont like clip on else ksc75 will do nice. For slightly more you can get the sporta/portapro. Open type headphones. Btw, close type doesnt mean worst off. It produces quite different sound compared to open type. Some prefer one over the other. You should personally test them out first.
  2. Hornet cost me 659sgd with shipping and 2 rechargable 9v batt.
  3. Didnt upgrade my IEM is because when i audition them, didnt really find the difference worth it. Maybe Ill try them again in the future. Amping the UM1 can produce siginificant improvement but it isnt really worth it (in this case using something way more expensive to get that improvement). Usign the rhp previously didnt really produce much difference. Though if you use something like im716 (hardest to drive of similar price range) u sure need an amp if u run it out of a nano lol.
  4. Just wanted to let others know how I feel about the amp, since not many expensive portable amps are discussed here. The Amp discussed here is the Hornet "M" with over 200+ hrs of burn in time. Headphones used is a MS2i and UM1. Player used is an Ipod Nano 2nd gen since we are talking about portable here. This is the first time I posted something like this so do forgive me if any mistake and misconception is given. The Hornet "M" is technically quite a small amp. Its slightly shorter then a go-vibe5 / 0ha. Made fully from metal and pretty durable. Batt life is about 30+ hrs with alkaline and <14 hrs with rechargable. From multiple listening using MS2i: With the amp attached, instruments become clearer and more distinct. Without the amp, the instruments seems all mixed together. Especially the softer guitar sound and background music gets all jumbled up. Bass also gets a boost and become more tight and slightly punchy. Vocals seems more upfront and clearer. From using UM1: Most people know this is a very sensitive earphone. Using the amp, the sound seems more open (increase in soundstage) Instruments are more spread out and clearer. Vocals feels more substance and are more promenent. Bass gives more impact. On general, without the amp, theres a slight veil over the music, with the amp on, the music becomes more clear. The previous portable amp I used is a Xenos 0ha-RHP. Compared to it, the Hornet improvement is significantly better. However the price difference of 6x does hurt though. If anyone else heres owns this amp feel free to add on or correct me. Will also like to look at impressions on other imported amp like Xin.
  5. 2nd gen nano sq isnt fantastic but still its pretty good. Then again I use the lineout with an amp for it
  6. Using the cresendo lineout for ipod on my nano. I need to verify something later to see if its my connector or is it a standard problem. When u press down on the lineout connector, u lose one side of the audio. Quite irritating since i put my dap+amp in my pocket.
  7. Batt life : Flash Players always have an upper hand here. Sound Quality : I think the other brands like iAudio and iRiver may have the upper hand from a direct output. If u have an amp then Ipod video lineout or Nano lineout will be nice. Price to storage: hdd players like vision and ipod video have the best bang for the bucks. So its pretty much dependent on your needs
  8. A comp really isnt the best sound output unless u have a great soundcard. A Zen Vision/Ipod can output slightly better quality then those from a normal comp. But the quality of sound is really debatable of course. One thing a comp will beat a Dap hands down is volume output lol
  9. Ok thanks. Am not an avid fan of ipod (still isnt not considering my ipod is down in 2 days -.-) so wasnt paying notice to it. Thanks
  10. Anyone can tell me where can i purchase a portable ipod lineout tat allows me to use any interconnector to an amp. Cant seems to find much info on the web. Thanks in advance

The amnt of power needed to drive is particularly high in hd mode. nearly 2x more then a westone um1. If I was to compare to my headphones, it requires 30% more volume then a ms2i but quality wise its superior to most of its price range. I tested something though, if u want to use bass mode properly u best not use its inbuild volume control. The earphones loses much of their additional bass capability once u lower volume using the inline volume control.
  12. Saw the iGrado instock now. Maybe should try them out. Anyone tried one before?
  13. Fixed itself after a total batt drain. Some unstable 0operating system they have for an mp3 player -.-. Seems to be a common problem across the net in multiple generations. Oh well at least now I know how much "quality" is there in the Ipod build. SQ wise pretty good and since i have very little songs, apple loseless format sure is good on a 2gb mp3 player lol. A pic of ultraportable. May change my earphones if budget allows me in the future lol. Also need to change the IC when I have time to take a trip down to jaben [attachmentid=3682] and now to plan on how to complain to apple.
  14. Just auction it today at stereo. Very nice. Good bass and warm for the bass setting. Dont really fancy the HD setting though, found it lacking, maybe its just my preference. Its one hard to drive earphone though. requires abt 80% more power to drive compared to a UM 1 (Base on my volume nob from 3 to 5+) Overall a great earphone if u have an amp to drive it sufficiently.
  15. Got the Ipod Nano 2nd gen today. Work great till.... WHITE SCREEN of Death zzzzzzzzzzzzz. I hope it self repairs itself after full batt drain. Else back to repair after just one day -.-
  16. As title . Sms at 91871675 ur specs and price. If interested will reply asap.
  17. Selling Amp. Condition 8/10. 4 months old with receipt. Letting it go for 65. Sms me at 91871675 if interested. Will include a GP rechargable NiMH 9V battery.
  18. Just want to ask some personal experience from the people here. Which portable headphones are good? px100 ksc75 portapro I like grado sound signature so somethign similar to it will be nice. I find headphones more confortable then IEM at times and the difference in sound is quite huge when compared to price. If anyone else know any more good portable headphones do list down here. Preferable foldable.
  19. Am building my ultraportable. Just want to know if the 2gen Ipod Nano SQ gd? Else is there any really compact mp3 players that have good sq and equalizer?
  20. The Hornet is still bigger then the shuffle considerably. Smaller then then the Xenos or govibe by abt 1/4 from the width tats abt it. I ordered it direct and it took 2 weeks. Interconnects u have to go test yourself. The difference between each cable is quite little and is really up to your preference. If you want an amp tats really small you can wait for RSA Tomahawk or Xin Supermini. Btw how much is the new shuffle?
  21. Unless u want big close can, a ATH-A500 will be nice. Amp wise think a PA2v2 is good enough unless u really want to go for something like Xin, RSA Hornet or the larocco.

Interesting. May want to audition one see ifs its really good
  23. Yes they generally work like earplugs so they amplify ur body sounds. The other thing tat can create tons of sound is the cables but um1 dont really suffer from them.
  24. Noise Isolation is superior to noise cancellation as of now. Depending on budget, a IEM with very good noise isolation seal is as good as a earplug or better.
  25. The most expensive sighting I have seen is a um2 and ER4. The most common is IPOD ibuds i guess lol
