  2. From what I see , sony 888 is my recommendation for you. It's just slightly under a S$100. Clear vocals and high mids. Isolation is not fantastic though. All these are based on my little experience with my buddy's 888 and the posts that I have read on other forums.
  3. Yes, it's a pity that she doesn't know how to appreciate these things. One thing about girls are that they will complain when you spend your dough on these stuff but they don't even feel the pinch when they go for spa, expensive facials and even expensive hair styling. (BTW, you are not even allowed to complain about how they spend their money, but when it comes to you spending your own, they will go ballistic!!! )
  4. Agrees with ting. EX70 is fine only if you mod it, else the bass would be unbearable at times. But begarion, I believe you should at least tell us what requirements you have or what you want to achieve with the set of headphones, for example, do you need : Isolation? Bass head? Comfortable? Fashionable? Sound Quality? etc... Because this way, it would be easier for us to recommend the right earphones for you. You can still set your budget but that's just a criteria, ultimately, it is the sound it reproduces that matters to you.
  5. I spent the whole of last night, all the way till 3.30am in the morning to get the system up and running. The other reason is I have to do the burn-in without my wife knowing that I bought another headphone. Headphones are my little secret, private hobby that have to be kept in the dark for the time being. I have been spending too much, buying this and that, so I guess it's better to keep her in the dark now. For the amp, the output impedance have to be matched to the headphones to get max output power. Since I am running on 9V source, maxing out volume on the unmatched amp will not be enough to power the amp to get some some decent sound. This may also cause clippings as the input voltage swing is already very high. No choice lah, have to fix the amp, then start the burn-in.
  6. Sure thing, but I will have to wait till this weekend before I start the burn-in. My harddisk crashed two nights ago and I was busy bringing up the new hard disk. I would also have to re-worked my CMOY amp for the output impedance to match with the 120 ohms of K501. Currently, I have matched it to a 50 ohms load.
  7. S$99 was what I saw at Hung Brothers just now.
  8. Call them if you really want the K501, they are the distributor for AKG, I believe ... Might not be the last, just no space to display more.
  9. Saw the thread... hmmm ... I sticking to my K501. How much did you CD3000 cost you? Seem like you are buying all sorts of stuff.
  10. Did you mean mine is the last piece, or is there a last piece over at the shop right now?
  11. Rameish, Thanks for the advice. Will run-in the K501. dqps, I bought it for S$250 but I did not bargain with the salesperson. Perhaps you can give it a try. The shop is Asia Sound at Adelphi, 4th floor. but I am uncertain whether that was the last piece as I saw only one on the shelf. Their number is 6338-7562 so do give them a call before you go over.
  12. Did not have a chance to try, I went to buy the K501.
  13. Since Pioneer has a local office in Singapore, I guess that they know who distributes them so it's easier to check out with them.
  14. hi ablaze, I was at Adelphi about a week ago and at that time I saw two X-Can V2 there. I went to Adelphi today, about 4.30pm and guess what... there's an X-Can V2 right on the shelf, together with one X-PSU, two X-LP2 and two X-LP. READ IT ... ONE X-CAN V2 available right on the display shelf.
  15. Rameish, Thanks for the advice. Think I've got to set my priorities first then. Will get the K501 first before I decide on the next move.
  16. saving to get AKG K501 but don't think hung brothers or the 4th floor shop at Adelphi carry them
  17. Alpha Audio will allow us to try out the amps right?

  19. hi ablaze, That's going to be tough for me as I have no experience in auditioning, especially if it was to test out for "tube microphonics".

Have built a CMOY, have ordered parts for Gilmore, so I will work on that soon.
  21. wow... that seem a good price, how would you reckon the sound to be? Good?
  22. Just want to check if anybody knows how much does this X-Can V2 cost and issit worth the money...
