    UM-1

Get the UM2 if you want bass and "oomph" to your music. I was just comparing SE530s with the UM2s through the zen x-fi and the t2 amp, and my oh my, I'm beginning to regret getting the SE530s... the UM2s make music come alive, while the SE530s are just what can I say too subdued for my liking.
  2. Yes The only downside is the short 30 days warranty. But then again for the price you're paying, it's really good value for money.
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally settled on a Creative Zen X-fi. Slimmer and much lighter than the D2, has a decent external speaker for times when I find my iems fatiguing, coupled with fairly good sound quality. For those worried about hiss, no discernible hiss with the um2s, one of the most sensitive iems on the market. Now if only I can get my um2s fixed asap...

    UM2 Help!

Hi Stereo, Do you provide filter changing services for the um2s? My problem might be more of a clogged filter phenomenon than a driver failure after all. Thanks.

    UM2 Help!

Hi all, To my greatest consternation, I've discovered that the right side of my UM2s is discernibly softer compared to the left today It was working well yesterday... Although these IEMs are used for commuting, work and even sleep, I'm a very careful owner and I've never dropped them, storing them in the supplied Westone softcase pouch whenever I carry them with me *sighs* Despite my tender loving care and having them only for 1 and a half years, the drivers are starting to fail... Is there a solution to my problem? I've placed them in a sealed container with a small packet of moisture absorber, just in case the cause of the malfunction was brought on by moisture. Should I send it for repairs? Or is there a one-to-one exchange? Sighs........... I expect these things to last longer, considering the premium price and supposed workmanship. If not, aren't I better off with an ordinary in-ear earphone whose lifespan is also about a year and half? This is depressing............
  7. I concur! Someone should do a review of X-Fi's SQ. Is it just another patented EQ effect like SRS WOW, DNSe etc? In which case, I'd be less thrilled
  8. Well, mine is safely ensconced in the back pocket of my shorts with my IEM running down my back. Less obstructive and you don't have to worry about entangling wires I wouldn't want to cradle it in my hand cos I might hurl it out of frustration hahaha.
  9. Hmm... d2 does have amazing battery life but what about the clix2? Not as juiced up but with slimmer design. BTW, my mp3 player is also my constant jogging companion. Would the d2 be too bulky for said activity?
  10. Hi all, I have been using a trusty 2 gb battery powered iriver (paired with a rather sensitive but heavenly sounding UM2s) for a year and a half already and am looking for a larger capacity flash drive player (8 gb and above) with good audio quality, long battery life (25 hrs and above), slim form factor and should ideally have a sleep timer function (I listen during sleep). Player would be primarily for music playback and any other functions are an added bonus. Which players would suit my needs? BTW is the ipod touch a good choice? Thanks in advance
  11. Hmm... well it was slightly uncomfortable with the UEs but I got accustomed to it sure enough. I think the UM2s offer the best comfort of all the iems I've tried. IEMs are worn over the ears.
  12. Complys are soft, sponge-like eartips that would give the user better seal because if worn correctly, complys expand to fill the earholes, keeping out ambient noise. However, complys by virtue of their "mouldability", lose elasticity over time, requiring the user to replace them once every one or two months depending on usage. They aren't exactly cheap too. Custom earmoulds? If you're talking about custom eartips like the UM56 from Westone, these would be the best eartips you can get because of the perfect fit. If you're referring to custom IEMs, these are different beasts altogether. Probably the highest-end IEM you can buy with money
  13. Thanks. I don't quite like the fixed Y juncture on the UM2. I wear them in front and they ride quite high up my neck. If I ever have the uncontrollable urge, I'd opt for a custom UE then.
  14. sorry for digging up this old thread. Gotta ask if the Y juncture of the cord same as that of the UM2 i.e. I'm wondering if they're fixed and unadjustible.
  15. Iriver's FM reception is one of the best I've heard so far. You might want to give it a try. MP3 playback with SRS really accentuates the music.
