  1. Don't get me wrong, I love Singapore and Singaporeans but this morning I saw something that make me shake my head . Every morning I get my free Today newspaper in Raffles Place MRT. The lady handing them out isn't particulary friendly but that's okay, it's a free newspaper right? She even chased someone taking two newspapers one time Today I was suprised to find a long queue in front of a pile of Today's. Apparantly the lady stepped out for a moment and instead of just taking the FREE newspaper people decided to wait until she got back and have her hand it to them. I didn't want to be the rude gwai-loh and just take one but I also didn't want to stand in line looking stupid. So no Today for me today... In The Netherlands, where I come from, they don't even have people handing them out but you take them yourself from a pile! I think even if the newspaper was not free Dutch people would take it but definitely not stand in line for it.
  2. Wow, that's my list too! I second that and add Alice in Chains - Dirt
  3. I was also afraid that the EB's would have to much bass. It is easier to turn the bass a bit down with the pod's EQ than it is to turn it up (which would mean turning everything else down). It depends on the rest of the configuration (amp and interlink) to get the spectrum right though. With the ultimate link affinity I get a nice clear high and a present mid. With the Black Emperor interlink the emphasis is too much on the low tones which overpower the rest. In most reviews I have read so far the focus is on one part of the rig instead of the combination of source, amp (or lack thereof), interlink and headphone or IEM. If you have an iPod or Zune, 5 choices of interlink and 4 choices of amp the number of combinations would already be 2*5*4=400! I also found out that it depends on my mood how much bass I can enjoy. It's entirely subjective so you should try different combinations yourself. Luckily the only two shops in the world that really let you try out stuff are based in Singapore! I didn't try the DTX 50 so I can't comment.
  4. Since Friday I have the UE Super.fi 5 EB's. If you want bass, they will definitely give you bass. It takes a while to get used to them because they are HUGH and can be painful in your ears. I tested them today with different kinds of music and must say that the the rest of the audio spectrum is crystal clear. My opinion is that bass is always the weakest point of IEM's and the UE's deliver with gusto. I compared them today at Stereo's with the UM-2's which are also bass-rich but twice as expensive. The comparison can best be described like this: With the UM-2's I was standing in the studio with 50 Cent listening to him from a safe 5 meter distance. With the UE's I had mr. Cent standing face to face to me asking me to go to his candy shop. A scary thought indeed . Listening to Orff's Carmina Burana with the UM2's I was sitting front row hearing the choir sing very naturally. With the UE's I was standing IN the choir, elbow to elbow with the singers. I could almost hear where every soprano, tenor and bariton was standing. I used my iPod 5G with the LDM+ amp and a prototype silver interconnect which made the whole experience very uncolored. Using a copper interconnect (like the Black Emperor) makes the sound a bit more muffled which favours the neutral signature of the UM2's.
  5. Bose is the equivalent of airline food in Business Class. It can can taste good, the recipes come from renowned chefs but it's still no restaurant experience.
  6. Hmm, nice. I've got a main amp from the same manufacturer. Didn't cost me more than SGD 400 including p&p from Hong Kong.
  7. Tool - Lateralus Green Day - American Idiot Kathy Melua - Call off the Search James Blunt - Back to bedlam Mozart - Requiem Jin Fuzai - Dream of Red Chambers And to this idiot upstairs who plays the same song over and over on his piano for days and nights
  8. Have you tried head-fi.org to find reviews? It doesn't substitute actual hearing but you'll get an idea of the characteristics.
  9. Hi guys (and girls?), I'm very happy to find this forum. I've been a member of head-fi.com for a month now and a few other fora in the UK and The Netherlands. I never knew there was a forum right here in Singapore! I moved with my wife last September and had to leave all my audio stuff behind. Only my iPod was allowed to come. This was a good reason to buy some knew equipment. So my pod got the company of a pair of UE 5 EB and a LDM+ and I discovered the joy of cheap quality Chinese audio. So far Singapore has been audio heaven. Now I know of this forum I hope to share my experiences with you. My wallet doesn't feel that way though, so apologies in advance if it starts complaining
