for the knobs, it isnt 1/2" diameter and 1/4" shaft. but rather 1/2" and 0.236" (6mm) shaft. we can still use it. but might protrude a lil. and btw, these knobs are ex!!

and another thing regarding the knobs. farnell does carry the knobs we need. however a lil off the charts. we need a 6mm 'd' shaft and less than 13mm diameter. the first two criteria there but the smallest diameter found is 13.2mm. prob we can still give it a try. farnell order code for the knob is 766707. check out the tech sheet for other colors etc.

shld we get the company to do one plate first? making sure it is correct and according to spec before we jump into the deal. else it be 300+ for all the boards down the drain

i'm in for the faceplate too. one question. do you all want the faceplate to have the amb lab wordings on it too? since we're making custom faceplate, better for it to be blank right? or even better if the company gives free personalization of the panels.. haa..

I think it's a great price. Its definately cheaper than the one on amb made by frontpanelexpress. is this case the material is gravoply which is a kind of plastic. not sure about it's durability.

The Alps volume control used in the Mini³ has a 6mm (0.236") "D" shaft, so the volume knob should be made for this and have a single set-screw. Knobs made for a 0.25" shaft will be slightly eccentric. The diameter of the knob should be no larger than about 0.5" (13mm) due to the small size of the front panel and proximity to the nearby panel screw and input jack. i dont think we can use those. the shaft isnt 6mm and 'D'.

im looking at where we can get the knobs for the pots? the recommended one is from kilo and i cant find it on farnell. can it be found at sim lim tower? if yes, which vendor?

you mean the front and back panel files on amb web? i'm not so sure if they do engrave on the panels. we might need to find another service to engrave the wordings on the panel

hey heady, take a look at this. http://www.scaneng.com.sg/index.html they do laser cutting. and maybe tt might solve the front panels issues.

what are the other components we need to get? maybe someone compile a list and i can help with a mini-group buy from farnell. once the boards and components are in.. we just need to source for the front panel job.. cant wait for a finished mini3

Where can i get some nice holes drilled for my face plate? i dont have any proper drilling equipment or access to dnt lab as i've graduated and in ns. any buddies here can help or offer some alternatives?

yes. i went m&s this afternoon. originally thought that gone case. cant find it. but when making my exit, saw the mints just beside the cashier in the previous few tins left. grab it @ $4.50. i think dimensions same as the altoids tin. no longer have to find altoids anymore. and i think the m&s tin looks nicer than altoids!! fantastic alternatives!

i've check out liberty market few weeks back. they dont have it too. will check out jason market tomorrow!

i've considered the hudson tin. but due to the looseness of the cover, i decide not to use it. doesnt look as nice as altoids too. haa. will try mustafa! will update all if there is altoids there
