  1. thats one uber ugly pair of headphones
  2. after some listening, i came to a conclusion grados and corda ha-1 doesnt go well with one another. its very bright, painfully bright. all the T'sss and S'ssss were killing my ears. its alot more detailed than digi01's diy amp, only problem now is the brightness. tinking of a power cable change for the corda to try to tone down the sharpness, you guys tink its feasible? my interconnects are pretty warm so i guess ill leave that alone.
  3. jus got one to try, i paired it with a grado sr225, the first thing i noticed is the difference in vol between the 120ohm socket and the 0hm socket, when i plug into the 0ohm socket, its vol is louder than when i plug into the 120ohm socket, the vol knob on 120ohm has to be in 11 o' clock direction to match the vol on 0 ohm in the 9 o'clock direction, why is it so? and i noticed theres slight background hiss when plugged into 0ohm scoket and not so in the 120ohm socket. help is greatly appreciated, thanks
  4. man Bob Dylan, his voice is one of the worst if not the worst in the entire history of music. hes a phenom only because of his lyrics, guitar playing cmi oso. naked, you might like to try these jimi hendrix - electric ladyland, are you experienced, band of gypsies, axis bold as love, blues clapton- unplugged, reptile, any bootleg that has his cover for somewhere over the rainbow led zep - everything except coda ac/dc - everything except ball breaker, stiff upper lip nirvana - everything janis joplin - every album, man shes good. bob dylan - pat garrett and billy the kid (its an instrumental album he made for a movie, damn friggin good, has knocking on heavens door, the only one with vocals), planet waves (his 2nd best work among all that ive bought and sold, some of his earlier works his voice is so gay it annoys me to the point i feel like taking the cd out and smashing it), highway 61 (the only good track on this I like is "like a rolling stone", one of his best songs imo) dun get the live bootleg series, regretted big time, he goofed around in the concert so much that it makes him seem so unprofessional as an musician. jeff buckley - this fella is my favourite musician from the 90's, one of the best male voices, extremely versatile, before he died, legends such as robert plant, jimmy page, paul mc carthy and many others gave the thumbs up for his music and offered him guidance and advice. too bad he died young deep purple - machine head (this is one hell of an album, no fillers, all quality material, unbelievable album on the whole, get the 2 cd 30th anniversary edition, the sound quality really good), child in time, burn, live in japan rolling stones - everything except 40 licks, bridges to babylon (this is one big rip off, totally disgusting album) beatles - everything pink floyd - everything except division bell, echoes jeff beck - blow by blow ben folds five - everything
  5. ac/dc - highway to hell, back in black, live, for those about to rock we salute u, razors edge, live at atlanta, back in black, let there be rock jeff buckley - grace legacy edition (this fella was a phenom, too bad he died young, one of the best if not the best artist of 1990's music scene) queen - greatest hits 1-3 eric clapton - reptile (very good effort by clapton, quite a number of good songs) enya - self titled album (her first album before she became famous) Olivia - singapore artist who made it big japan, really amazing vocals, a tad thin though, support her~ olivia nirvana - with the lights out boxset (not for casual nirvana listeners,an unreleased track kurt did before he died, do re mi is pretty amazing) yes - fragile
  6. yeah i tried once, with yellow senn pads somemore, si beh malu, everyone looking at me like im some retard
  7. oh yah, i asked a head-fier this question, "how much improvement, in percentage, do u tink i would get out of upgrading to sr225?" his answer was 200 percent improvement. but after i auditioned it at mbd using "the wall", i dropped the idea. This time round i got it since it was so cheap, and i don't know if the improvement can be said to be a 200 percent improvement, but one things for sure, it kills sr80 in the bass department.
  8. for details, i wouldnt say its a very big improvement, i jus hear some soft sounds (like in some live tracks audience talking, funny sound effects on pink floyds tracks etc) a little louder and clearer than before, thats all, but the bass improved alot, and highs also very smooth compared to 80, 80 still a little grainy
  9. definately worth the upgrade, its a totally different beast compared to sr80, previously i auditioned it side by side with sr80 at music by design using mobile fidelity pink floyd the wall cd, apart from some very micro details, the sr225 was totally not impressive in the bass department. pink floyd the wall isnt the right cd to test bass, for very small details, its very good. now comparing the bass on my own system and cds, it wins sr80 hands down in both quantity of bass and quality of bass. The highs are much smoother as well and its treble isnt over the top. paying the extra is definately worth it. and the best thing is i got this for 160, mint in condition fully burned in, haha...
  10. jus got a grado 225, full burned in, compared to sr80, it offers a little more details than sr80, highs are smoother, the most significant improvement is the bass. The bass on 225 goes much lower and deeper, sr80 goes thump thump thump, 225 goes THUMP THUMP THUMP, yeah thats about all i found out about 225.
  11. Bob Dylan - Another side of Bob Dylan (hybrid SACD) - $7 Oasis lost tapes (bootleg) - $4 Sarah brightman eden - $7 Dream theater images and words - $7

  18. cut ur hair for the sake of audio bliss.
  19. but what source are u using? portable player? i'd say grado headphones are damn good for rock, and theres constant demand for grado headphones. Just look at the classified section, everynow and then there will be wtb threads for grado headphones. So if it isn't ur cup of tea, u should be able to unload the headphones easily. anyway if u have the spare time, drop by music by design at adelphi, they have demo sets for u to try.
  20. up ur budget by a bit and get a grado sr60, hey u listen to hendrix? get ladyland and blues, those 2 are his best imo, damn fine blues i must say for the album blues. ladyland on the otherhand is a landmark album imo, in the same league as dark side of the moon, sgt peppers etc. sorry din see properly, stated earphones, but never the less i will recommend headphones for rock, but i did try b4 the sennheiser px200, which is not too bad but the bass is pretty muddy/boomy.
