  1. Sorry, should clarify. He didn't make capacitors but rather made his own V-Caps like those from ALO for use with the iMod. I guess crashie actually meant making the actual capacitors and not V-Caps.
  2. Check it out! iBasso D3 Main Features: - Wolfson WM8740 DAC Chip + TI PCM2706 - USB signal input, provides I2S interface for decoding - 4ch Amp architecture - Line out function, allow it to work as a standalone USB-DAC - 2-Setting Gain Switch for impedance matching (+3/10dB) - Powered by 5 AAA batteries. With 5 AAA alkaline, the play time is longer than 100 hours - Measures 55*21*92mm, and weighs 130g Looks pretty good. Must give it a go when SE has it in.
  3. For portable use? You can try Tubeman over at Jaben's forums. He made quite 3 portable caps using Sonicrafts I think.
  4. Yah, I almost bought a D1 thinking it was the opamp rollable one.
  5. Is it? Damn...almost bought the wrong one!
  6. This is confusing. The D1 Viper is the one which you can roll opamps while the D2 Boa is the one with soldered on opamps. Unless you want to do some fine desoldering and soldering work, only the D1 Viper can roll opamps easily.
  7. The Audio Technica ES7 or the ESW9 looks really good and sounds fantastic as well. ATH-ES7 ATH-ESW9 These are the classiest pair of headphones I've seen. Whats your budget anyway?
  8. heh, if all you need your headphones to do is to hang around your neck and look good, the Skullcandies work but don't ever put them on your ears.
  9. Cables and jacks you can find it in LHS located in Sim Lim Tower. Not sure where to get the unassembled dock though.
  10. Doesn't appear to the case. I've heard nothing from Jaben or SE.
  11. Well, that depends on how long you want it to be I think. I've been informed that it can last about 16hrs. Thats long enough for me but I'm not sure how long you're looking for.
  12. Rockboxed iPod 5.5G? Top up to about $238 and you can get a 30GB refurbished one from Apple Store.
  13. Yeah, the thing about iPod is that to get the best out of them you're going to need to use a line-out dock and an amp (which I see you already have). Plus if you don't want to use iTunes, you can use the open source Rockbox(www.rockbox.org). Just make sure to get the correct iPod generation. I'm not sure about the Australian Apple store but you can get some pretty good deals on refurbished iPods there. The new Sony A8XX or A7XX series is apparently pretty good for the sound quality but I find that you tend to pay quite a bit of premium for the Sony brand.
  14. The other thing is that Boonco charges quite a high price. You can find it cheaper in the shops or online. I take it you are in Australia? If so, you might be able to get it cheaper from Amazon.
  15. They cost the same but are there any difference between them or is it just the interconnect that matters?
  16. If this Wolfson DAC is all its cracked up to be, then it should be a pretty good DAC for what I expect to be a reasonable price.
  17. Oh! I'm interested in THAT! Been looking around for USB DAC to use with my laptop. Hopefully, Alvin will be doing these too!
