I saw Aron's ACS customs on friday! SOOOOO nice....but the price....oh god...the price.... Image X10 from what I read is a single BA as I've read that it doesn't benefit from burn in. But boy, that is one very impressive single driver indeed. When listening to it, you're like about 3 rows back from the musicians while my q-JAYS place you right up front. Bass is present in both quantity and quality, certainly better than my q-JAYS. Vocals are little recessed though (guess thats the one places you further back.)

Yup. The new D3 Python seems to have some favourable reviews from Head-fi but thats just slightly out of your budget. Do you need a DAC? If you don't need one, the P3 Heron is worth trying too.

Not sure if you guys have this, The Holy Grail of True Sound Stage (Cross-Feed: The Next-Generation) I stumbled across this gem in Head-fi. In a quest to get better (or in his own words, True Sound-Staging), he found some Foobar2000 components and plug-ins that helped. I've tried it and it works pretty damn well! Give it a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. After using it, it really does give you the feel surround sound! Links to get the files you need.
