The batteries do make a difference. The E2 Lithium is not rechargeable, but they last real long (>200 hours I believe).

Congratulations on your purchase! I actually prefer the iQube to some of the desktop amps I've tried. Try the Energizer E2 Lithium (buy at Watson's) instead of Eneloops, better dynamics and blacker background.

Actually, the stock Koss system is pretty decent for it's price but the point is that old Stax systems can be bought at a similar (or slightly higher) prices, and it would be much easier to upgrade the amp without any retermination/recable. Although finding a used Stax system in good condition is quite tricky, so that has to be taken into consideration as well.

Incredible headphones. I will go so far to say I'll put them right on top with the higher end cans like HD6xx and K701. They respond fantastically with good amping, and I actually prefer my ESW10 to the K701 out of a Yamamoto. Ok well, so I preferred the Valgrind recabled and modified HD650, but that's not exactly level playing ground anymore. Maybe I should Valgrind recable my ESW10 to see how they match up.

Nope, he's in Singapore. All the better to poison you. ical is the one and only lucky owner of the Valgrind monoblock caps. 8.6uF caps bypassed by teflons, putting them all in one box was kind of too big so the caps were split up. Hence the funky look.

I've reserved mine (without even testing it ) but I'm still searching for a good home amp to pair it with! I need 16 working days to pay for it though.
