  1. Woohoo!! My Tempo and Plainview batteries have arrived at home! Will post pics soon.
  2. Just email him dude. He'll provide the relevant information you need. He emailed me the pic and specs of the new tempo(replacing the older transit) in a microsoft word file during the 2 week email exchange I had with him before I finally placed my order. Speaking of which, my online tracking indicates my order has just reached singapore. Hopefully it'll clear customs and get to me by tomorrow.
  3. And the Esplanade is not the end of the story.......who the heck came up with the bright idea to build a big ferris wheel???!!!!! I could go on about the uber expensive lifetime pensions for ex-MPs and cabinet ministers but this is the wrong forum.
  4. I'll go hunting in Jurong during the weekend then. I lusted after the D777 when I was still studying, but the damned thing was like, $400+++++? I wouldn't pay that much even today. And is it just me or are portable cd players getting uglier and uglier each year? I remember what the sonys used to look like and today's models are just butt ugly by comparision.
  5. Because the gahmen damn pok kai already.
  6. She looked even hotter in some other movies I've watched. For above 21 yrs only.
  7. Well it LOOKS nicer. Haven't actually sat down to listen to it yet.
  8. Here's a pic of my 790. I still prefer the old Panasonic/Technics discmans with the black polycarbornate bodies though.
  9. I've noticed that when I have CDs on Repeat All, the tracks always sound better to me the 2nd time. I've always thought it was purely psychological?
  10. I own the CT790 myself. Pretty nice, with an optical line-out. Paid $190 for it.
  11. Cowboy Junkies: Studio - Selected Studio Recordings
  12. If you buy a lot its actually worth it. I deducted the price difference bet. the local and hong kong prices, multiplied by the number of DVDs I bought, the total savings actually exceeded the price of the trip(plane tickets plus hotel)! The trick is to go during the off-peak period, its a lot cheaper. And use cheap airlines, since its only a 3 hour flight. If you want to go during the school holiday season then not worth it already. Besides, Hong Kong is a great place for a short holiday(good food and shopping), I originally did not intend to buy DVDs there, but couldn't resist when I saw the good selection and prices. And their seven elevens are HUGE!!! Yes, there are other "goods and services" available, but make sure you're not underaged.
  13. Definitely the Ety 4Ps. Especially since you won't be moving around much on a plane, the microphonics should be a non-issue. The isolation, and sound quality is excellent, provided you get the hang of inserting them into your ears(this takes a while to get used to). Just remember to give it a week or so to get used to them, and that the key is getting a good seal, and not shoving the buds as deep into your ear canals as you can. If it hurts, you're doing it wrong. Properly inserted, they will be the most comfortable earbuds you'll ever own. I've owned my Etys for several weeks now, and have used them to block out/or at least reduce to non-irritating levels the following sources of noise while commuting on the MRT and bus: 1. People talking loudly to each other 2. People talking loudly on their cellphones 3. Irritating cellphone ringtones 4. TV Mobile (*&%$#@) 5. Engine noise. 6. Babies crying 7. etc etc etc The Etys do not 100 percent cancel out the above(unless you listen to music at high volume), but reducing the noise level by 20+ decibels makes a huge difference, and allows you to listen to music at low volume levels without sacrificing details. Not to mention the fact commuting becomes that much more pleasant. Note: I can hear the automated MRT station announcements when listening to the Etys. They sound a lot softer, but I can hear what station I'm at without having to remove them.
  14. Oh yes, the last time I was at Sino, there were loads of *cough* Japanese AV DVDs. Did not dare to try bringing any through customs though. There were plenty of shops selling animation the last time I was in HK, and I was buying them left and right. There were some very interesting local(HK) magazines introducing the *cough*, local "products", *cough*. The magazines were pretty light on content, but the attached CD-ROMs..ahh...different story altogether. Anyone here read "Ye Yiu Ren" loosely translated as "night..err...wanderer?"
  15. If you have friends in Hong Kong or going to Hong Kong they are much cheaper there. I paid Sing$10 for single an double DVDs, and about $40 for the multiple DVD sets(complete OVAs and TV series). They're exactly the same ones you see in local shops. Picture and sound quality is excellent. Anime DVDs are horribly overpriced in Singapore.(just like almost everything else)
  16. I kennaed "carrot head" by them because I was caught completely off guard by the cheaper(than the ridiculous euro price quoted for the 220v version)price and sort of forgot to bargain. To add insult to injury, they sold the Model 1 at $200 during the latest hi-fi exhibition.
  17. The Tivoli Model 1 is a very, very, very good radio. Don't be put off by the fact that its Mono, not Stereo. Excellent sound, reception. I love the tuning knob and led indicator(signal is strongest when led stops flickering and is at peak brightness, so you know when to stop adjusting) Never tried the cd player and subwoofer though.
  18. Feeling somewhat nostalgic for more carefree times during this deepavali weekend, I dug out my old Gundam singles bought donkey years ago. (the picture only shows some of them)
  19. 1 year plus old Sharp ST-770 for sale - $120 Sharp ST-770 Comes with box, manuals and all accessories. There are hairline scratches on the acrylic lens of the remote. Other than that, it looks brand new. Note: There is no seperate line-out on this player, so it CANNOT be used for recording, and there is little reason to combine it with a portable amp because the small size is its selling point. Good for those who want their portable music to fit into their shirt pocket. PM me if interested.
