I upgraded from SR80 to SR225, then got a HD650 and a GS1000. I use different kinds of cans depending on mood and songs. If you are driving your cans without amps, Grados are the easiest to drive. SR225 is a step up from SR80, the difference is quite significant at least to my ears. Also you can nvr get bored with Grados, they are such fun cans.

Grado SR125 and above uses the 1/4" connector (the converter to 1/8" is not included). I will recommend Sr80 or SR225, SR125 sounds closer to SR80 than SR225 for me. So save the $70 or so and get the SR80. my 2 cents.

wow 90pounds? That's SGD$200+ for SR60..expensive in UK

Currently im using Ipod (line-out) -> Grado RA-1 -> SR225 as my portable rig. Is the GS1000 much bigger than the 225? the pads look huge. Can swap with the 225 pads?

I using Ipod's Line out connected to grado RA-1. The difference compare to the headphone out is pretty significant
