  1. the pads are not originally design for the akg. they are sennheiser's IIRC. But headfiers had it fit on the k81s. I do not believe it's available YET. The foam mod is done but simply pulling out the inner foam cover in the earpads. There's a mesh of cloth inside still, so no worrys of dirt getting into the drivers as long as you treat it with care.
  2. Well, if you do not need any hw inputs, then the choice is good enough. Only consideration is your output now. Will you output to tape? If not, then consider what interface you require for monitoring.
  3. Counted lol.. without the tools, there would be no industry!
  4. Based on my limited experience, some places are getting 220v, some at 240v. Even 250v also. You got to check with a multimeter. Serangoon area where I live is currently at 240v, where I work I'm getting a stable 220v at tanjong pagar. In changi area also 220vAC. You'll have to test it out to check as I've only tested these area whilst setting up some lighting systems. It all depends on the sub stations around your area I guess. So far my assumptions are that HDBs are standard 240v whislt private houses/offices will vary greatly. Again, don't bother testing if you do not know how to safely test the sockets. It's quite dangerous. Even if your area is 230vAC, you have to be careful of surges that might peak a dangerouse few volts more.
  5. yeah. not much market here. Maybe focus on being an illustrator or animator depending on which is your strength. plenty of jobs if you can turnover a storyboard really fast
  6. It seems many are involved one way or another in the media industy where music is concerned. Well, to start off, I'm doin post production work. Grad 3 years ago from a Multimedia Dip. Freelancing at a productioning house near full time now whilst looking for a permanent job

Yeah, it's quite unfortunate that there ain't many good vocalist in the music industry nowadays. the music is moving forward, but singing is moving downwards.. except a few good exceptions of course.. but the way popular music is going "black", it's kinda sad.. hope the "hiphop" phase of pop will move on.. well, lushfm does have some nice playlist sometimes, and I really mean only sometimes.. more often it's playing the same lounge music over and over again.. lol
  8. theory_87, did you offend someone? seems this person is out to irritate everypost you reply to.. hmm *mods can del if it's OT
  9. Well, always safer to use regulated adapters. alot of adapters aren't accurately rated. I had some rated 6v measuring a dangerous 8v.. so better to double check with the multimeter if it's a cheap adapter.

    Cd player

Well, the for the XS you can pm ma6jia in our forums. He's the guy to look for if chinese amps are what you want. Well, you can go with the marantz or u can try the new oppo multi format player at x-audio. You can audition the oppo there. It can play sacd, dvd and quite a worthy player for audio at the 299 price point unmodded. but it's always sold out so you'll need to pre-order. The xs 708b is to me, is a lush warm amp and I can say much better than the dared mp5 based on listening with the akg701. It uses quality components so for $250, it's quite a steal already.
  13. Long? I coil all the long headphone cables and ic nicely beside the amp and ipod/pcdp neatly. Don't worry about long.. once you go army, you will learn to manage all the bloody stuff in the SBO with a hell lot of die down string. 1 hand map, 1 hand beta-map reader, 1 nvg around the head, 1 gps, 1 prismatic compass navigating tekong.. 30cm of wires ain't long compared to 10m of dangling tie downs..
  14. Ipod renames all your files to Fxx into its own database. You can use a software to copy from ipod to pc, and it will rename it based on the ipod database. If you use disc mode and copy the music folder, it will be Fxx.m4a, mp3 etc.. you will need to use an id3 renaming software to rename. I use Tag and Rename. it can rename files from id3tag and vice versa.
  15. Dun worry. $15 is the fixed price for brand new. You weren't chopped
  16. Pops from flicking of light switches cannot be eliminated totally even on dedicated FCB's or from power conditioning. It will be there no matter what. Hmm, but what about digital light dimmers.. I've seen those electronic dimmers that gradually dim the lights to off via a touchpad switch.
  17. there used to be a good freeware but now require payment.. copypod or anapod explorer are some sharewares..
  18. yeah.. imagine his rig when he reach 30.. damn I'm feeling old..
  19. hmm, seen many reports out there. Seems to be branded as "pure Accoustics" and some other brand. They even have a "US" website but upon doing a whois and you'll notice the website is registered in Singapore/Malaysia addresses. They are quite successful with so many people selling them off at echoloft after being conned. Well, they were reported in some papers recently last I heard.. but I must say they are quite persistent syndicates..
  20. Well, as always my advise, do you like your current set-up? If not, what do you not like? Maybe a change of speakers/amp/cables might improve it. If not, just sit back and enjoy it the way it is. I'm still watching movies on my comp with el cheapo speakers at home. Not really into the explosions and earth shattering sfx. quite sick of it already Lol
  21. Hi! I'm not really an anime fan, but I do like anime. Anyone can recommend me some good anime? I've seen and liked animes such as Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Animatrix, Blood the last vampire and the likes. But I don't enjoy naruto, ichigo, gundam that sort. Sorry to all the fans out there, just a personal preference. Is there a style to all the aboved mentioned that I like?
  22. Bad power source then it's no use using filter/conditioner. Maybe use a power regeneator to get stabalised 220Vac? But so far power up till the power meter outside your house is very cleaned. If it's bad, it's within.
  23. the above isn't a power conditioner setup afaik. the quietline is a filter device. It helps if it is placed around the house near high drain devices and near light switch sockets. It is not useless. Supposedly quietline works best if they used around the house with a few. As of now, you are only using one so it is best to be plug in the power tray. But generally Singapore power is very clean. If it's a dedicated power supply direct from the DB, you don't even need any power conditioning device. I've only experience bad power once at a condo near Bartley road.. so far my current place, no problem. Singapore
  24. DAC is not meant for HT setup. Because it is in stereo format only (2 channel) so you will lose usage of any other audio formats like AC3, THX etc.. DAC means Digital to Analogue Convertor, which is for bypassing your CDP's internal DAC or for your transport (either a dedicated CD transport or a computer-as-source) with digital output The setup for DAC usage is as follows TRANSPORT > DAC > PRE-AMP > POWERAMP > SPEAKERS or most headfier here would be TRANSPORT > DAC > Headamp > Headphones if your HT setup has a seperate transport/CDP from the amp, than you can set up as follows DVD Player > DAC > HT AMP > 2.1 Speakers
  25. Hmm, seems all the same few artist. any accapella/world music fans here? Lemme start mine Mama Africa
