Where to shop for 2nd hand music cds?

Recommended Posts

Hi, need help in locating 2nd hand music cds shops keke..

I am bulding my cds collection.. I expect about 15 cds coming by the end of this week, just got sun yan zi's kite, david tao's I'm OK, and creed's weathered just now all for $20..

I believe that's nearly 7 dollars per piece.. do these shops have competitive prices? also, how is the cd condition?

Your inputs are greatly appreciated!

Thanks happy.gif

try out gramaphone. they have both brand new and 2nd hand cds. they are located at raffles place mrt, specialist centre 1st floor and capitol centre opp cityhall mrt not far away from funan centre.

or cash converters. there are at toa payoh, tampines. all around the bus interchange. there are few other cash converters but not sure where else.

I think for both of them, the CDs are not arranged alphabetically. so you have to take your time to find all the good stuff. gramaphone has good stuff while cash convertors are lousier.

If you trying to go into classical, there is a compilation of 5 CDs of various composers for $23 at HMV Hereen.. very good deal and the label is philips. There are about 20 packs and may be running out. not sure of the sound quality cause i haven't heard it yet.

BTW try out david tao's 1st album, tao ze, blue in colour. my fav chinese album and much better than I'm ok.

oh ya I have 2 copies of the tao ze album!! but one is in pretty bad condition though. too much scratches after lending to too many people.

if i remember correctly, the gramaphones 2nd hand cds costs about $7-8? their brand new cds are very cheap too.

http://www.grabadisc.com.sg/ I think this site is also ran by gramaphone company.

Hey Guyferd,

Please don't flip around too much in my music room later alright? It's a very small room and I'm afraid U might break my darlings. lol.gif

See u later!

p.s. I have these cds to let go. Perhaps U might be interested, prices will be super cheap.

1. Extra copy of Cranberries - Bury The Hatchet

2. Extra copy of Wu Guo Jing - My compositions (famous HK composer singing his original compositions previously sung by by Sammi Cheng, Andy, Hui, William So etc.....24-bit recording).

3. 100% Korean Drama Hits (Audiophile remastered 24-bit recording)

Watch out for Indonesian, Malaysian pressings of albums. They are very cheap, ~$15 new but might sound harsh. Most of these albums are very discrete about their origins. One very easy way to tell is by looking at the quality of the fine print on the back of the album cover. If the recording company name ends with Pte Ltd its a singaporean pressing. So far no complaints on SG pressings tho.

The difference between these and US/UK ones isn't stark but enough to make me regret getting those. You might not notice this but come to regret later when your stereo gets 'higher' end.

hi fishball.. yeah.. I am always very particular about those lower quality recording cds..

Don't worry I will check to make sure they are of good quality before I make my final purchase biggrin.gif

i think one more cash converter is in PB Builder building which is just opposite Parkway Parade, next to Coffee Beans and McDonald.

For more selective better quality / audiophile discs, you may try a shop on ground floor at Burlington Square. It also sells vinyl records and used hifi equipment.

But if it is the secondhand price that is the key attraction (about S$3-10 a piece), then just across the causeway there is a abundance of "reprints" in Holiday....where DVD9s can also be found. Price is between RM5-10. I am not encouraging anyone to head there but just stating a fact. jump.gif
