evo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 thinking of buying this low end PC, so that my brother and I can have 1 PC each http://computertimes.asiaone.com.sg/news/s...04,2656,00.html costs just S$439 w/o monitor only 1 concern, linux drivers for the prolink hurricane usb broadband modem. manufacturer's website, http://www.fida.com/download-dc.htm, brings me to below http://sourceforge.net/projects/zyxel630-11 looks promising... wonder if linux drivers are hard to install, i.e. do I need to know how to type various commands, like in DOS actually was researching on this http://www.thinsoftinc.com/products_buddy_info.html but price is too close to a new PC above, plus my current PC is not that new, P3 500Mhz another similar system, but not seen in singapore http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/product/mimiq/miniq2usr.htm
evil-zen 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 I can't access the computertimes website so I assume the system comes with the cheaper linux and not Windows XP. I'm not sure if you have tried Linux before but it is not that easy as compared to Windows. If the drivers do not work in linux, you can always revert back to Windows. U have the installation disc for Windows right?
heady 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 evo, why not go down to Funan and see the NTUC shop there, they have the Linux desktop there. Maybe you can use it? But if you want to play PC games, forget it. Linux is not so bad nowadays except if you have hardware which is very new.
