wil 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2005 Hi all, besides the above, i only have owned cheapo generic ICs. The AFA ARES was given to my dad from friend who had a spare lying around. Build quality of the ICs seem to be solid, very thick shielding ( Green ) and sturdy plugs ( typical black and red ). Anyone can shed some light on this? Ive been wondering eversince i got them.... fuwen 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Echoloft seems to have a group of people dislike the AFA cables very much. But I guess those are personal taste and preference. I used AFA cables before and do not have big problems with them. Resale value low though.
Mackie 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 AFA faces heat from audiophiles owing to proclaimations that they were made in US and further exacerbated after some owners dissected the cable to find..............DIY equivalents. I personally tried the former flagship Zeus speaker cables and power cord. The former is too warm for my system and latter too slow for my power amp. These lasted merely hours before removal. However, the cheaper models such as Ares score better. They are priced economically and yet exhibits less sonic signatures .
