freddymac 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Helo, that forumer would be me! heres a short review: Using it with a pair of Senn HD580 w Blue Dragon replament cable & Philips 471 (modded) Build: Suprising good. Very solid & smooth vol pot with no crackle. HP jack feels secure & i/p , o/p (its also a preamp) jacks are of decent quality. I havent opened it up yet. Also cant rem what tubes it uses. Sound: Warmish with decent resolution. Slightly laid back but that may be due to the HD580. Vocals are wonderful. I have always felt that tubes give the most natural midrange presentation. I am trying to explore the China manufacturer as I found they have good products at a very interesting low price with reasonable good quality. The 708A is using one 6N3 tube, one 6Z4 tube and two 6N11 tubes. ALPS volume control, WIMA cap, Metal film resistor, R-type transform. Characteristic are: - THD <= 0.01% - Frequency response: 20 - 30KHz - Headphone output: 500mW - 240mW(32-600 Ohm) - S/N: 90dB Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
