Mozilla Firefox speed boost

Recommended Posts

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Go to Mozilla's website. Search the Extensions for "Tweak Network".

That's a graphical interface for this tweak. I've been using it since Firefox 0.9..

Not again......

I've been using this handle since 1997. That's before there was a Mosaic, which is before there was Netscape, which is before there was Mozilla.

And no, it's got more to it than just Fire and fox put together..

Then again, the origins of my handle is probably older than you..

LOL. That question was in my mind too, but I guessed as much - not many would want their nick to be the name of a web browser. The nick "IE" up for grabs, anyone? tongue.gif

FYI: Firefox 1.0.4 is now out. Addresses some security issues in previous versions.

I remember there used to be movie called Firefox about a fighter plane. Starring Clint Eastwood? Is that the origin of your nick?

No problem on my side with gmail on 1.0.4, just that it has been lagging a fair bit.
