The HF-1 is probably one of the new grado series in 2006 that's why it's only being

pre-released to the headfiers now

 

The wood chamber is based on SR325i but the inner drive housing is plastic

 

If I'm not wrong the headband is still made of vinyl so it could be the next HF-2

apparently someone on head-fi has heard those headphones already - they were prototypes for a (failed) venture with a surround sound company - hence the much larger bowl pads.

 

from the grado website - the sr-40 will be out early 2006.

that someone is joelongwood right?

 

if you read his later post, he has admitted that the grado surround headphone which he tried about 5 years ago was not made of wood so it might be completely a different headphone after all

 

and furthermore the shape of the headphones that the kids worn in the picture is based on the new SR325i model
