viconte 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Hi Guys, Any of you have good recommendations of DIY digital spdif cables? What constitues a good cable? Method of termination? Do you know of anyone (or yourself) who can make a good cable? Cheers
Mackie 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 I'm currently using Belden 1694A crimped on both ends to Canare RCAs. At least in your case, the cable must hold its specs at a nominal impedance of 75ohm. LHS is the place to go pal. ps. by your definition of "make a good cable", I reckon you mean good termination of the cable.
viconte 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Thanks Mackie, So I believe Robert also knows how to crimp the cables right? Thanks for your recommendation
Mackie 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 If he sells the crimping type of Canare RCA jacks, he will have the crimping tool as well. Otherwise, a soldered version is just as good. It's the cable that matters most as it carries the signal.
evil-zen 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 LHS do offer crimping and soldering if you buy the raw materials from them.
