Tell me what's good!

Recommended Posts

My old pair is gonna crap out on me, so I'll need new ones. Anything on the market I should be looking out for?

What I'm looking for:

  • Easy to put on (and take off)
  • Not too expensive (less than $100 or so)
  • Shouldn't break too easily
  • Should be easy to store
  • not an IEM
  • not a clipon
I've the E888s and CM7 in mind, but they are fragile (E888) and expensive (CM7). Maybe MX500 too--is that still available? Edited by sigma

Hmm, I think the E888s might be too fragile and I don't really want to baby this pair. It should take whatever damage I throw at it. Haha...

Any other suggestions?

Senn got a new range of earbuds coming. You might want to check them out. Or AKG K14P. Almost as clear as E888 but it is bass light. Can sound thin. Require bass boost or EQ to fix.

i own a k12p

which is basically similar to k14p, except that k14p has a volume control

k12p claims to have good bass but it's bass is kinda like more punch and plastic sounding

unlike 888, which i also have, which has warmer and more even bass

comfort wise k12p or k14p

i would say it isnt exactly that comfortable compared to 888 or mx500

you will definitely need a pair of foamies for comfort

for your budget and application wise

i will recommend mx500

although it wouldnt be an ideal choice if you want isolation, as it's an open can

it's also comfortable for long usage and the cable seems reasonably tought

for balanced overall sound, 888 will be the choice

but it also doesnt provide isolation, as it's also an open can

it's comfortable too but the downside would be the cable which looks rather fragile

Interesting...but how might I get those locally? And I don't mind a lack of bass, really.

Hung bros should have. Asia Sound (I think, forgot its name) at Adelphi should have too. Price, i not too sure. Approx $40+-

K14P is a little too big for me. So it is not too comfy. Slightly larger than E888. Its cables are really thick and stiff. So i think thats what you want.
