closed version of sr80?

^ as per the title

 

i'm looking for something with full cups, circumaural, meaning to use them for daily commute. prepared to pair with the ldm+ if necessary.

 

the ety's are nice (currently on the er6i), but i want to try something else, and experience better head-stage. the er4s are 500 at hung bros and se says the rrp is way high anyway, so i'm thinking cans shouldn't cost that much.

I'm waiting to try out the Super Fi 10 when the stock arrives, so you might want to try it out as well.

ER4p costs only $250 if you get it from amazon.

While ER4s should costs only $290 at amazon.

how about a Sennheiser HD25-1? but they are overpriced imo.

 

I had read from elsewhere that they sound similar to Grado, with good clarity and dynamic. They are closed headphones, a good alternative to IEMs.

thanks for the recommendations. and i forgot to mention my 300 bucks budget. which the imported er4s seems to fit. i'm still very much looking at headphones though.

 

kyaw, i read that the hd25 seems to lack detail. but never know till i've tried =P

 

i think i've shortlisted the following based purely on description: sony v6, hd280pro, (more?)

seems like they could all do with amping.

Actually many have associated the new v-moda vibes with a mini portable grados.

It's canal earbuds like the sony types so it's really comfortable, yet its sound is WAY beyond sony's.

Pretty bang for buck at $179.

I'm trying to get away from IEMs to try out a better head-stage. Otherwise, I'd have gone straight for the ER4s.

 

Fizban, you tried the Vibes yet? I haven't had a chance, but there's quite a bit of love in the Head-Fi thread. It apparently has a leakage port to chill the bass a little, but makes it unsuitable for commute.

Just about nothing portable ever sounded as exciting or fun.

 

BUT...it seems epicentre, where i got it, have run out of stock.
