radioactive28 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2007 Though the DAC in the DAP plays a part, i think what you should be looking at is the headphones/earphones that you auditon with. x2 DAP per se doesn't always give poor sound. Couple a poor DAC with bad/inefficient earphones and you get dis-satisfaction. What head/earphones were you using?
nofing 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2007 I am using a Samsung k3 now but personally after trying the D2, my vote goes to Cowon. Haven't had much experience with iRiver though. Do note that it's not always the DAPs fault. In this case, all 3 brands are highly reputable and give really decent sound PROVIDED your songs are encoded right and the earphones are of good quality. Couple a poor DAC with bad/inefficient earphones and you get dis-satisfaction. What head/earphones were you using? hmm.. my experience is this: no brand mp player: terrible hiss creative v200: good SQ. player lack of features thou.. my current creative zen v: lack of bass. with bass boost switched on.. it distorts sound. sad! tried my fren's yepp: clear, loud and nice bass. yup so im gathering more details b4 i go out n buy my nex DAP~~ thanks 4 da info guys oh my phones are non high-end senns mx400 n px100~
Luminez 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) Hi threadstarter, have you tried the new Sony NW A800 Walkman?. I compared it with Samsung K3, and i choose NW A800. Have been enjoying music since then. The bass seems to be packing more punch... My frens whom audited my Sony NW A800 is impressed with the sound quality. (they are using ipod nano) Sticking to ur choices, Iriver / Samsung / Cowon. Cowon has my vote Edited June 12, 2007 by Luminez
