adhoc 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 is it true that shielding the transformer is better?
WatCult 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Shielding is to prevent those unwanted electromagnetic frequency (EMF or EMC i think) from affecting the circuitry.
jtfoo 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 The Gilmore uses a toroidal transformer, which has very low hum/magnetic field. So shielding a toroidal is not neccessary. Shield it only if you want to maxed out. A lot of power amps do not shield their toriods.
evil-zen 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 (edited) I did have some problems with EMI with my V2 but was solved when antness told me to slightly rotate the transformer. the humming went away. Edited August 2, 2003 by evil-zen
