For me, the safest bet is the 320Kbps Mp3 format. At least, you won't have problems playing in other players.

yep, this is my practise as well.

This site might give you a better idea of MP3 encoding.

http://jthz.com/mp3/

I use iTune 7.5 with VBR bit. with min bitrate at 192kbps stereo. Can't tell any diff from 320kbps.

The reason for iTune, easy, fast, Good SQ. file size slightly bigger. I use direct DAC out from PC USB to Amp to a MS1.

Even when conpare to CD I cannot tell the Diff.

When youre using gd headphones, the diff between 192 and 320 is kinda obvious, just encode in 320kbps n 48k bit rate and ur done :)

Even with 320kbps, with gd headphones or IEMs you can tell the difference...

VBR will just change the bit rate according to the sound of the music... it will help to reduce the size of the mp3.

so in that sense it would take away the quality too right? like 320kbps vs vbr...

for the slight improvement on sound for the size...

oh I see.. yeah that makes sense. VBR takes out only what is perceived as not so vital or something right? So I guess that's best for ppl with limited space...
