Making equipments heavier

What do u guys use to make the amp or speakers heavier and where can i get them. I have recased my amps but they seems to be a little light due to the larger case use, can someone advice me on what i can use to make them heavier.

I assume u want them heavier to reduce resonances.

 

For speakers usually ppl use kiln fired sand (to make sure its very dry) or very small steel bearings (very expensive) or similar hifi product. To prevent a mess if u want to reverse the mod, use a liner like a thick plastic sheet.

 

For amplifiers i suggest using blutack on the inside of the casing so it resonate so much. Just dun block any vents.

Thanks petia, i am actually trying to make it heavier so that it is resting well on the feets, my recased items are a little light especially my SOHA. Yes in a way also lower the resonating issue.

i use 3m shock absorbing door stops to replace the stock feets of my components. i use non hifi brass cones for speakers.

 

just curious why too light casing will not sit well on the feet? wat sort of feet u use for the amps?

I also have the bumps on on my pretty heavy cdp but then i dun think its doing well. I have tried pumice stone and it works very well.

 

What i meant about light casing is due to the distributioon of weight in the case. like the SOHA for example, the front is actually lighter then the area holding the trans.

i use only 3 of the big round concave 3M door bumps to support my Rotel amp. i would arrange them so 2 of the bumps support the heavier side with the tran and 1 support the lighter side. spread the 2 bumps out so its stable.

i am not really sure about my amp, my tranny is at the back and I can't have a single bumps-on at the front cos it will sort of 'rock' when i plug and unplug my headphones.

 

I am currently using bumpons for my cdp too, but looking to change them, i tot the pumice were good but they were sort of brittle and can leave quite a bit of stuff on the old desk that i have for my cdp. Any to recommend?
