  1. thanks for the recommendations. and i forgot to mention my 300 bucks budget. which the imported er4s seems to fit. i'm still very much looking at headphones though. kyaw, i read that the hd25 seems to lack detail. but never know till i've tried =P i think i've shortlisted the following based purely on description: sony v6, hd280pro, (more?) seems like they could all do with amping.
  2. i think it was mentioned before in one thread that a safe listening level would be one where you can listen comfortably in a very quiet place. take that level with you everywhere, and if you find the environment overwhelming your music, if basically means the surrounding is way too noisy. personally, on my er6i, i find that some songs i play at 10% volume (4 of 40 levels) are loud.
  3. ^ as per the title i'm looking for something with full cups, circumaural, meaning to use them for daily commute. prepared to pair with the ldm+ if necessary. the ety's are nice (currently on the er6i), but i want to try something else, and experience better head-stage. the er4s are 500 at hung bros and se says the rrp is way high anyway, so i'm thinking cans shouldn't cost that much. thanks =)
  4. i think hung bros might carry them, or another shop in sim lim (which i can't remember, but they sell earphones/headphones as well). i remember official shure-packed stuff, but not sure if they're the flex sleeves.
  5. don't know if you're still looking out for this, but here's my take: on the whole, bass and treble extension and roll-off showed a little improvement, but nothing spectacular. then again, considering i'm using an iriver player, there's really not much improvement to be expected. detail resolution might have improved slightly, but i can't be certain since i'm using this for my portable setup. the noise from the mrt doesn't do well for detail appreciation. if i do closer listening, i might post more thoughts (or not).
  6. kinokuniya main store, 8pm - a guy sporting e3c with customs and a ponytail - another guy with sf5pro - all clear version
  7. well, unless you have a tendency to grab your earphones in one handful and stuff them into a pocket full of things, the occasional strong accidental jerk shouldn't damage anything. i once accidentally dropped my h320 with the er6i plugged in - ears and headphone jack - and the earphones saved my h320
  8. the one time i screwed my er6i, i think it was because i overloaded its max power rating. the cables are surprisingly strong and persistant.
  9. were you at se or jaben? how the heck do you find that many dual-drivers in a day?
  10. i've my reservations over whether or not an amp will be helpful, but keeping my fingers crossed. the er6i on the home amp's headphone out had an annoying obvious hump on the treble, the cause of which i have yet to check. hopeful, it's just bad match of impedance.
  11. you can wait for my LDM+ to come in =D
  12. don't know if anyone has done this before, but i thought since the grille was an obstacle to clear sound, i would do away with it entirely. i did the string thingy 'cos my ear were pressing on the diaphragm. foams are still the original. tried it out on my h320 headphone out, the treble generally improved and brightened , the bass was less draggy. generally better sounding to me, on account of the treble. then i tried it out on the line out at the same volume level. this is more of a first impression since i never paid attention to what the unmodded pair sounded like on line out. anyway the treble and mid's definition and resolution were excellent (for mere $20 'phones) compared to the headphone out. vocals and cymbals sounded like their edges were clean cut lines instead instead of smudged ones (sorry, don't know how else to describe this). noticeably, the exaggerated mid bass was subdued, and high bass became a bit louder and tight. (on my home amp, the bass was tight, but too bloated for my liking) now, i just need an unmodded pair to do a more detailed comparison. don't feel like undoing the string grille, took me quite a bit of time doing it in the first place =p
  13. their next shipment won't be in quite a while... from what it seems, they're not expecting a lot of stuff to come in either. didn't see any filters, but saw a pack of 18mm (large) yellow foams for the 6i. just to check, if you considered buying online, that means you have a credit card? maybe you might want to start an interest check thread in the marketplace, more people might pop in.
  14. still wouldn't cut the shipping by a lot. i'm interested in getting the complys. i'll make a trip to adelphi and inquire at norman audio.
  15. Hung Bros doesn't carry the foams, for sure. Don't know about the filters though. I went directly to Norman Audio to ask before, but they don't bring in a big bunch of anything (especially the ER6 and 6i accessories) unless there's a big enough order. If you want, you could try the online sellers like earphonesolutions, or we could try to gather enough demand and go to Norman Audio together. I've been looking for the 6i complys myself for a long time now.
  16. finally saw something worth posting =D saw someone wearing an AT ATH-T2 or T4 on the MRT. quite rare to see these
  17. just a word of warning: i believe there's no such thing as cx300 oem. sennheiser seems to use their own drivers. the oem is more for creative's ep630. if you want a head-turner, can try out the grado sr60/80, good value for money
  18. heard it and it's quite crappy what are the chances they might try to improve on it? creative needs to put in more effort in the correct places

  20. i think his assurance meant you not run road with our $. personally, i'm okay as long as i know you're not imaginary, plus NRIC. besides, if the shipment gets lost, that's not really our fault (unless you gave the wrong posting address), and singpost and/or earphonesolutions will definitely have to take responsibility for screwing all of us involved. check your pm
  21. amazon's best price and list price are way too high compared to earphonesolutions
  22. yep, did that, and new foamies too unless these have an effectiveness period
  23. had my er6i for nearly a year now, but recently, i've found it to be lacking in the highs (details are still there though). no, it's not damage or anything, but i'm concerned that i'm now numb to brightness. and i'm feeling that the bass is becoming too strong. wondering if you guys ever had such an experience. i'm concerned especially since i'm planning to move up to the shure e4, and their treble isn't as bright or extended as the er6i. any remedies? thanks
  24. been wondering, but these are useable with shure e3, 4, 5s, right? additionally, is there any way to double the um56s for use as earplugs?
  25. Same here, interested in e4. However, the amount saved on buying will probably cancel out in shipping for any repairs. Good thing is, feedback from head-fi about directly dealing with Shure customer service is beyond positive.
