  1. It should not hurt it. You can give it a try and hear whether the sounds improve.
  2. Yup. You can change R4 and R8 higher.
  3. The C3 to C5 you can use 100nF ceramic cap.
  4. Only both of the outer rim need to connect to AG.
  5. You may get better help at heardwarezone.

    Hissing sound!

There is only one headphone that I know uses speaker amp. Other headphone should definately try to use headphone amp. A very good reason is speaker amp have higher noise level than headphone amp.
  7. It's always best to plug in your headphone when the unit is on and plug out before off.
  8. Ouch. Very BIG!!! Digital pot is another study and is used differently from standard pot. You must only use them for single supply only (unless they are design to use dual supply). Which one sound better, I don't know. If you have an analog pot that is 50k but min resistance is 100 ohm. In terms of dB is -0.017. You won't hear any difference.
  9. Some PCDP volume control doesn't control their line-out. An increase of gain is necessary. It's on the first page of this thread. It's always recomended to have a volume of 50% to 100% from the headphone out of a PCDP when using an amp. The idea of using an amp is TO drive your headphone. Which most PCDP can't.
  10. Uh. It ended.... Silly me for not following the thread. Saw some familiar faces and some new ones too.
  11. Man. One day late. Thanks for the whishes guys. Did my new secret product leak again???
  12. Ya. need to give them credit card details by fax.
  13. I did buy alkaline rechargeable once. Can only charge 10 times..... At that time, Malaysia battery ex like hell, now also ex like hell. Normally buy battery here and go back Malaysia and use.
  14. Should call this thread headphone mod...
  15. Not using LM6171 downgrades it. If you can find another single opamp IC that have low voltage spec to replace it, that will be better... Once you use low voltage opamp, it should be ok.
  16. Had you tried a fresh new batt? 6-7V for 9V alkaline is as good as dead.
  17. find me I can help u "provide" drilling tools other machinery... err.. a bit complicated. but can be worked out with btw, drilling is such simple job if you've got all the right tooling Meet sunday where???
  18. SHOW ME THE PEEKTURE!!! Ahem.. Your 7-8V issit alkaline?
  19. hmmm...i am using a battery holder pack with 8x 1.5V AA batteries inside to make up about 12V for my cmoy2. like this should be ok right? how to not drive too much current? if voltage is around 12V current should be ok for the amps to take it right? Only when you drive it loud enuff than you will hear it. Now your Cmoy2 has downgraded to just Cmoy...
  20. May I know the source of distortion? the MAX4167 as far as I've read its data specs, it cant drive high voltage neither high current then with no LM6171, wat's the direct impact? the virtual ground not as precise? am I correct? as there's a lack of buffer hence the v ground will be affected by load itself? luckily, I have no high impedance cans highest I have is 60 ohm only The LM6171 has a low impedence output. Taking it away and driving loud would sound...... funny. Not precise is another thing and yes, it will be affect by the load.
  21. Hmm. Very advendturous indeed. For me I rather DIY speaker. A few planks of wood, a few good driver and a port tube. Walla!!! Headphones are rather hard 'cos you have to be good in mechanical design and have it fit nicely onto your head. The mold to build it would definately cost a bomb...
  22. olimex http://www.olimex.com/pcb/index.html The cheapest I can find. Use them during the Cmoy2 prototype.
  23. You just have to take care not to drive too much current as it will distort like hell.
