  1. I am new to headphone. My main listening preference is rock music. If its not playing rock music properly, its not worth listening. My humble headphone setup: Upgraded (NE5532 @ headphone section and Blackgate caps throughout Power Supply / DAC section) Denon DCD-2880AR CDP and Sony SA-5000. That's all.
  2. i want the 100k set only. anyway, no news on the board yet .. i'll guess gonna hardwired my amp lor ... its really bloody easy, but the board makes it a breeze ... reallly nice to have for a old man like me .. i got lotsa ecc88 .. gonna try these 1st ... anyway, does any local vendor sell the attenuator kit and chassis too like those from my3c?
  3. http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=8414 let me know which one you fancy the most :-) I will be buying the attenuator and chassis from my3c since it will be less than S$200 shipped.

  5. It was US$35 (I think)a few weeks ago with cheaper switches ... Anyway, I had emailed Glassware regarding their stock of 24V Aikido PCB.
  6. i have never heard 24V Aikido before .... anyway, i am more comfortable with tubes because they are extremely durable and reliable. the beauty of a tube design is that the part count is low. the PCB promotes the use of 3 kind of tubes .... you are talking about NOS tubes, yes, difficult to find and expensive, else they are plentiful.
  7. I will be ordering the 24V Aikido Tube Line Stage and Headphone Amplifier PCB next month.
  8. why not go tube ..... 24V Aikido Tube Line Stage and Headphone Amplifier i am using the Sony SA5000 with a full Black-Gate upgraded Denon 2880AR CDP now. i tell you about the Denon CDP headphone section ..... i rolled about 7 pairs of different ic on it and the best ic to match my SA5000 in it are NE5532 ...... its amazing ..... not even the OPA627 can match it ... the guitar sound just so correct with Denon/Sony ... I dont feel like getting any HP amp at all .... maybe its because the SA5000 needs a bit more power to drive .... If only it could have more bass, then it would be perfect. anyway, let me know lah ..... I will be ordering the 24V Aikido Tube Line Stage and Headphone Amplifier PCB next month.
  9. Anyone want to chip in on this 24V Aikido headphone amp PCB board? It is currently of stock but I was thinking of doing a MO for this forum. It will saves on shipping cost since it is flat rate US$20, regardless of no. of PCB ordered. PLease refer to 24V Aikido Line Stage and Headphone Amplifier for more info. The PCB board can be found here: 1) Complete Stepped Attenuator Kit Including the resistors, switches, PCB, and instructions 2) 24V Aikido Tube Line Stage and Headphone Amplifier It looks much easier to build than a Millet MAX, much less parts and stuffs, and cheaper too. 13. You wanna sell me your 八达 Bada. PH-12耳机放大器? BTW, where did you buy it? These are too expensive for me .....
  14. saw the mod ...... pathetic ..... dont wanna go to details .....
  15. what are the mods done to the modded Darkvoice336i? Maybe I can help to rip max. details from it ..... what is the tube you are using for your modded Darkvoice336i? Thinking of a full tube amp ..... hmmmm ...... yar, i am too curious about the Aikido sound on a Sony MDR-SA5000 ...... Really sarce now becos the Sony is ruthless in details ........... it IS a reference monitor ...... Care must be excercise in choosing the correct amp .....
  16. my budget? well it really depends how much I like the equipment ..... am now contemplating DIYing the Aikido amp .... because I like the peaceful sound of 6SN7 ...... but a lot of ppl will find it bland and tasteless ....
  17. Please recommend me a warm & lush headamp ... am using a Sony MDR-SA5000 now with my Denon CDP but its obvious to me that the headphone amp is not up to it from the CDP after some ICs rolling .... I believe my CDP is 2880AR ..... the headphone section has no problem driving the SA5000 but i feel the sound is harsh and compressed .... Thinking of going tubes ...... any advise?
  18. if vaccuum tubes amps are not hot, the tubes are dead .... sorry I just read your question carefully, and NO, you cant put any true audio equipment in an enclosed space. Period.
  19. anyone built the AKIDO heaphone amp yet?
  20. dont need to think ... you are correct .. my bad. http://www.aseansec.org/EE%20MATRIX/singapore.doc
  21. Simple answer is you can by using a auto-transformer ... anyway, you can use this 220V amp in Singapore, which has 230Vac. Difference of 10% is quite a big deal ..... but I think the rectifiers in the amp can deal with it. The real big deal will be the shift in the biasing point of the tubes. We at SG may not be able to hear what someone is hearing on 220V, that's all. Anyway, the other way out is to pass that amp to some transformer winder and ask him to wind a similair one with 230V input. EDITED: 240V to 230V .... thanks to HEADY for pointing out the error.
