  1. Definitely much cheaper than what can get in Singapore. As a matter of interest, how much did they charge you for the shipping? Enjoy your new headphone, and above all, remember to take you time to get a good fit.
  2. Are these available in Singapore?
  3. The new Shure E4c are not dual drivers. Only the E5c are. The E4c are very similar to the E3c. With the new Tuned-Port technology, it is supposed to have better highs and lows than the E3c.
  4. Hope you like the new headphones. Make sure you let the headphones burn in. Mine sounded terrible off the block but now after 2 months of constant use, has opened up very well.
  5. Yeah, you are right about the new model. The Shure e4c is coming out beginning of May. Etymotic is also coming out with some new stuff in the 2nd half of this year.
  6. The ebay one will show you $179. However, you can get it at Discountheaphones.com which is like you said their sister site. I believe Infested_red got his from them.
  7. Absolute0 is right. Yeah mine come preconfiged with the AD8066. I also bought a AD8620 op amp as well. Got some other op amps from TI and Analog Devices to try out.
  8. I have just put in an order for the Go-vibe instead. Choose it over the PA2 cause of the op amp rolling option. But the PA2 is a fine amp never the less.
  9. Another point to note. Most headphones need some time to burn in and the Grados is no exception.
  10. Good for you. Apparently this cracking of the tubes seems to happen predominently in the Ety series. Have not heard of it happening in the Shure series before.
  11. Yeah, must be careful when changing the filter or tips. Or will they spoil regardless??
  12. You only had her for like a month and this happened? Unbelieveable!!! Did not think that they were that fragile.
  13. Really feel for you man. Hope it is still within your warranty period. Read that it may cost about US$80 for such repairs.
  14. As firefox said, making an amp is rather satisfying and some are quite easy to tackle. You could approach this in both directions if you like, but my initial remarks regarding getting a better phones first stands. For headphones you might want to get the Grados SR80, Koss KSC75 or PortaPro. You can audition the SR80 at Music By Design. Do give them a call before going down though. http://www.musicbydesign.com.sg/ The Koss KSC75 or PortaPro are on sale at SLS. You might want to try Hung Brothers #03-83 Sim Lim Square. Their prices are on the high side but bargainable. You can also try various other shops in SLS.
  15. Besides the Westone UM2, I am also considering the Etymotic 4p. Still undecided. I will take a look at Shure E5 as you advised first. Most important task now is to get my wife used to the idea of a $400 earphone!
  16. No, I have not tried the Westone UM2 but I am also looking to buy them at a later time, thus the interest. There is this guy selling the UM2 (new) over ebay for C$349, which works out to approx $460, without shipping charges. http://stores.ebay.ca/Marcopoloca_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm The reason why I would probably get them instead of the Shure is because they are cheaper, the cables are more manageable than the Shures and their sound are somewhere between the E5 and the Ety 4p. Not sure why the UM2 are selling for $690 in Toyko. You can get them almost anywhere over the internet for US$329 or S$540 easily.
  17. Wonder if this applies to DVD and video as well. Is there any black dvd by any chance?
  18. If you are using the headphones on the go, please take note of what Absolute0 said. ie they leak sound pretty bad (after all they are an open headphone) and the person sitting right next to you will be able to hear your music, especially rock! Because it is open, it also allows sound to come in and because of that, you will need to turn the volume up. For rock, the SR80 is a better choice over the SR60. Others you might want to consider is the Koss PortaPro. Good for rock.
  19. The Westone UM2 is another option and it should cost less.
  20. A headamp would make a difference for sure. But whether the difference would be big depends on several factors, notably your phones and you. My take in this case would be for you to upgrade your phones first then maybe add an amp later. Most higher end phones would benefit most from amping, although this is the general rule and may not hold true for all cases. Perhaps you could list down the genre of music you listen to? Whether you like a bassy kind of sound as in like your sound preference? Your budget if any? What birate are your music encoded?
  21. One of the cheapest site should be this http://www.compuplus.com/i/SOUND/Headphone...d&t=shure%20e5c
  22. Believe it's new cause this place is also selling the Shure E3c at around the same price US$114.95 before shipping. http://store.yahoo.com/earplugstore/index.html And speaking of bargains the Ety 6i is going for US$94.99 here http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10402209&loc=0 With this coupon, you can bring down the price to US$84.99. http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=81458496 Unfortunately, the Ety 6i is on back order.
  23. After conversion, it works out to be less than S$200. That is cheap! SLS selling about S$300.
