  1. actually, if there's enough interest, we can do our own PINT boards but seriously, for USD85, you can even have a small run of the PCBs lol
  2. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=183911 there's a group buy for this DAC would like to see if there's any1 else interested in getting the board(s) costing and the dates are all plainly laid out in tht thread
  3. yup that's exactly what happens on my PINT too when the batt is going low
  4. heady I think the operational voltage of the chip varies. I am thinking abt production variance maybe I got some "right" chips theoretically ad8397 can run from as low as 3volt abt ur 9V batt dying off at 6v, well, those batts are not known to have good current output. maybe at 6v ur batt cant sustain adequate current needed by your chips to sing. for 4 AAAs, can try stacking or however I might see fit
  5. get it from LHS can ask them to do for you too
  6. ermmm actually, tokina not that good either it's only a DX lens what about sigma 12-24? can use on full frame oh wait. nikon cant make full frame cams
  7. wider will look more fantastic so 12-24 I'd say
  8. if you want a clean sound out of using wall supply, then the output DC has to be regulated one I've opened some wallwarts (AC-DC adapter, or so they claim). inside there's nothing to regulate and/or to suppress the ripples. so that's why with the higher noise floor I suppose cmk, LHS sells a few types of 1/8" plugs. go there, look around. and pick the one that you think gonna suit ur budget and ur expectation best. LHS, however, does not sell exotic cables. they sell high quality cable at sane prices
  9. ooh good then I just replied to you thru pm lol errmm, but wait some DMMs' fuses are not easy to be bought and/or replaced maybe you blown it while testing ur PINT! lol
  10. what kind of noise? hum? or hiss? if it's hum, yeah choke would do I guess the B+ supply is not properly regulated then if there's a hint of hum or not enough filtering.
  11. AFAIK, volume pot attenuates the input signal, not the output so the noise induced by tube stays the same no matter what your volume pot position. well, in your hands is the 250ohm version isnt it? can you hear noise with your tube amp ? if not, then I think it's very safe to stick with 250ohm
  12. there might be another sgh member who wants LOL I'll ask him but hahahaha he just loves my PINT the moment he tried it hahahahaha
  13. afbug, if you want, I'll take some pics of them LOL after I get my lights tho' (which is soon)
  14. loudness depends on the sensitivity of the drivers. e.g. 96dB/mW. which means if you supply 1mW power into it, it would be able to put out 96dB (way too loud for listening IMO) for drivers with the same sensitivity, lower impedance would require higher current to get the same power, i.e. P= I^2R However, turning up higher volume is correct for higher impedance, provided you have the drivers at the same sensitivity. you would require higher voltage to drive same loudness for the higher impedance cans normally, amps would not mind putting out higher voltage. the problem normally lies within its ability to output current. if you wish not to turn up higher, well, you can change the gain of your amp one way or another. and hmm, why are you not comfortable with turning up the volume knob? sincerely, I suggest you to just keep it to 250ohm
  15. why drop to 32ohm if I may ask? AFAIK, lower impedance will put a higher demand in ur amp. higher current demand, and also it demands a lower output impedance out of ur amp. I hope you've known all these facts before buying. hehe else you might find the DT880 customed to 32ohm to sound different compared to the 250ohm. I hope you'll enjoy it nevertheless, as much as I am
  16. cmk, I feel the same too when I compared the DT990 and DT880 I found the DT990 has a little bloated bass, which pushed me towards the K701 I'd say keep the DT880. I'm loving the DT880 for its sound and comfort
  17. sure heady just send it over then well, you can do that via snail mail or meet me up. up to your convenience of course kross: you should thank heady too without his 2 pairs of resistors ur PINT would have lotsa snakes inside, hissss.... hahaha
  18. explain the oddities? ermmm arent u supposed to pass one to me to troubleshoot?
  19. RCA cleartop is my fav tube I have GE 5814 and GE 5963. those two just cant beat the RCA I've tried RCA 5963 too. still not close, to my ears that is
  20. Here you go: Anyway, pricing would be S$23.50 ea PM or call me (if you've got my number) to get one or few pieces off me
  21. alps pots are here will take pic if any1 requests for it
  22. you can search for the pics in creative site... here: http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...1&product=14744
  23. get EAC, then dl the lame encoder. EAC is to rip the CD tracks, then lame will encode to mp3 yup and itunes sucks
  24. http://home.swbell.net/acavalli//images/Ca...Heater_1.07.gif it is using 100k I'm getting some amount of alps 100k. original made in japan. will advise again abt pricing when I've got my card statement when I've got the pots, I'll take some pics. it's not like the ones sold in koba. I've got 1 piece from koba, which apparently looks like fake one
