  1. Well, who knows when I am there, might as well pop in to have a look. How about the 2nd hand shop on the top floor of adelphi? I remember there are alot of good looking old recievers. Didn't get a chance to go in as it was closed saw a pair of beautiful horn loaded LothX speakers!

Thanks, replied! Yeah the NAD541i has HDCD decoder as well. I really like HDCD encoded CDs. I nearly got it to replace my CDP but I really wanted the RS-1! So many gear, so little money!
  3. So Fishers & Sansui recievers are out of the question too? Do they allow you to try out the gear?

It looks good ablaze. Guyferd, I'm using an old Marantz CD-80. Big, chunky, heavy, SOB.
  5. Any chance of posting a photo? You can email to use & we'll post it up for you.
  6. What do you use for LP playback?

That's an art to sleeping on your side with the ety's on
  8. What can I say? A precursor to the MONSTER CD3K? I'm really excited! Just wondering how the EMP would handle higher impeadance headphones. The Pro is designed for both low & high impeadance, just wondering out loud, how they would sound. Head-fi's gear for sale/trade is a good source but you have to be quick or check daily otherwise good stuff will pass you by in a blink of an eye!
  9. THANK YOU ABLAZE & GOUKI! This is what the forum is all about, helping each other. Yep, I've replied your PM. Thanks for your trouble ablaze. These should be great for use at my office with my replacement radio (yet to arrive as well).
  10. These are the Ovations right? Used to own a pair of them. Try these links: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_e...artner_malaysia - distributors. http://sennheis.4ecommerce.com/mivastore/m...egory_Code=H38- actual replacement earpads for HD565 from Sennheiser USA.
  11. If you tried it out of the line out jack without an amp you'd get nothing at all! What I meant was the sound quality would be better using an amp connected to the line out rather than the headphone out.

Thanks for the instant response. I must admit, this will be on the top of my list for must audition headphones. Nice pics too BTW.

Holy Moly! That's big! Queen's Fat bottomed girls song spring into mind! They also look like 70's styled closed headphones too! Hmm, beginning to wonder now, maybe I should just skip getting cheap closed headphones & go straight to the CD3K's but that size man! Ablaze, have you ever tried using them lying down in bed?
  14. Cool, awfully nice of them.
  15. Wow, thanks for taking time to write your impressions. Are you in Japan already? Can you define smooth drink for me, maybe give me an example of what you mean Based on your description, you will certainly need an amp to get more volume out of the clie. The added benefit of course is theoretically you will get better sound. I say theoretically as the clie only has a headphone out which is not as ideal as a line out. More volume you will certainly get as I've experienced with my old portable Sharp MD player.
  16. har28: I've decided not to get the PX200. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I'm actually quite surprised to hear that these headphones are very comfortable. I assume full sized headphones to be so but they look HUGE & HEAVY. How big are they compared with the Senn HD600?

    Sony Cans

A simple review would be nice though since these cans are causing such a stir in Head-fi. I'm quite curious too. Especially reading about their 'super' soundstage.
  20. I was already thinking of probable reasons for the blow out! Sheesh!

No secrets ablaze, N.O. PMd me asking how to change his custom title + something about your 'new' amp. I guess we both had the same guess.
  22. What form of payment do you accept? I am from overseas can you accept Paypal? Do you have the original box and manual/literature?

evil zen: Let me sing it to you... IIIIIIIII'mmm wicked & I'm Layyyyyyyyyzeeeeeee (© Xpress feat. David Bryne). Jokingly aside, my excuse is I never felt the need to post reviews that others have done ad nauseum. Although I would agree that it would be MY impressions that makes the difference, thing is they're pretty much the same. I would be willing to do something as long as someone asks for something specific but bare in mind I can only make them based on my limited equipment experience & the equipment that I do own & the music I have. So it may or may not be of much use to anyone. ablaze: Yup guilty! I just put 2 & 2 together. I hear yah man, no pressure.

Congrats ablaze, I nearly burst keeping your secret! Were all dying to hear comparisons. It doesn't have to be something detailed. What you can do on one of your non studying days. Making sure both amps & gear have been warmed up. Listen to the X cans on a few CDs you are familiar with, jot down what you like about the sound, what you notice like instruments, vocals, is it harss, natural etc etc. It can just even be just phrases or single adjective words. Then swap over to the EMP using the same gear & CDs, then listen if you hear any difference, something you didn't notice before, compare your notes. It can be something fun to do too. Make sure you are not distracted like doing some work or reading. Best is to lay back on your easy chair close your eyes & immerse yourself in the music. This is the sort of gear where if you got yourself a dedicated source you will hear night & day differences. Before you start investing in tubes for tuberolling, give yourself time to aclimatize to the sonic signature of the stock tubes. Then only you can notice whether the tubes you've replace makes a difference or not. I wouldn't be surprised though if we hear you getting bargain NOS or premium used tubes! P.s. R10's are supposed to be the best cans for the EMP! If you get a bargain on that I'll eat my RS-1's yellow earpads!
