I'm assuming JM is still single as an AKG1000 in his bedroom will be distracting due to the sound leakage & get complaints from anyone in the same room! Concerning the Etys, I've read numerous posts about people looping the cable over their ears so I tried it out, surprise surprise, the low end detail was more pronounced especially bass guitar etc. It's worth a try for anyone who is annoyed to hell by the cable microphonics.

Welcome ahgoh7! If you can, try to audition them to see whether you can tell a difference with a dedicated headphone amp & a receiver. If you can't then there's really no need to get a dedicated amp. Some people can hear even minute difference whereas some need to train their ears to be able to hear ANY difference at all. I'm sort of borderline between the two. I personally prefer to ask myself does the sound fulfill my criterias for me to enjoy listening to the music. If you can afford it, go for it otherwise you should buy more music, broden the music you listen to. This will make you appreciate the equipment more.

I think this problem arises when the technicians themselves don't have any interest in the equipment they are servicing or are not experienced. It's a real shame that consumers are at the mercy of this sort of thing. It's bad enough that shops are reluctant to allow auditions. It's amusing though that the story is the same everywhere although I'm sure there are places where customer service/satisfaction is taken seriously.

Yeah, just can't seem to get enough or rather stop. If at the very least I can listen/compare them to my current headphones I am happy. Sometimes you need something to aspire to otherwise life would be boring, don't cha think? The cans I would most like to hear is the Sony R10 & Grado HP-1's I may not end up buying them but if I end up really liking them after listening to them then I would certainly save up to get them. These other cans have their hardened fans so I am also curious to hear what their specialty are. Variety is the spice of life... but don't tell my wife! HYUK!

Very true, this is not head-fi, I used it as a measure only. I agree that people have to 'earn' their custom title, otherwise 'lurkers' can just simply syphon SGheadphones for nothing. I'm not just trying to be a spoil sport or being too strict. I always wondered how you are able to provide this forum to us for free. The only way I can show thanks to you is assisting you as a junior moderator and help the forum move along steadily. We can see regular posters already. It would be great if more silent members posted. That's why I am so adamant on more sub headings on the main forum so members won't be so reluctant thinking whether their posts are relevant or not. Hmm... not so sure about this one. Maybe it's just me, I don't think it is selfish of you! It's your privilige as the person who runs this forum (I know you don't like the term admin). It will no longer make the custom title unique if everyone has one especially if a member is new. All anyone has to do is quickly make 20 posts then customize their title. Personally I find that the default higherarchy system at the moment is too fast ie. stages ahould be newbie

I'm pretty confident I know exactly what ablaze is getting. I'm very sure it is not a Sugden Headmaster ting. I won't spoil ablaze's glory though. If anyone else knows what it is, keep it to yourself till ablaze tells all! Then we can all try it at his place! LOL!

On the contrary, I don't have tons of gear compared to Rameish! I also don't consider myself as a veteran as well. I think some of the newbie members here probably would qualify. I think it only seems like that because I have been into the forums longer than some. One thing I am though is very passionate about music & the hardware that goes with it. I'm biting the bullet already, not going to go crazy on headphones for a little while, while my wallet recovers from severe injury. I need to get a bluetooth enable mobile phone & earpiece. Plus I am waiting on Rameish's recently acquired Sony headphones from bulkie. Said he was going to sell off one of them (he has 2 now to compare the sock mod) once he has compared which one he prefers. If that falls through then I might consider a new pair of Sony Eggos. Then there's my META still with KurtW having it near MAXED OUT. Did I just said I was biting the bullet?!

As with most upscale headphones & most other audiophile related equipment... we hardly get any, not even the cheaper value for money cans. So I can't answer your question as I have not seen them here at all.
