  1. I did that with all my headphone amps! Think of it as a learning experience. A very expensive one! Rest assured though, if you don't like it, someone else will... hence the Gear For Sale forum.
  2. Updated! Samsung mp3 player & AKG K1000 are sold. There are interested buyers for the TAH & CHA47 but still pending confirmation.
  3. pipee: Hi, I've tried it using the HD600 and it seems to work quite well. It is better with the Senn than the TAH. It uses a single 9v battery. The CMOY is the simplest DIY headphone amp design the CHA47 is the 2nd up.
  4. OK but I'll bet you it's gonna be fast as soon as the 'silent'/new members start posting. Don't be shy ya'll...
  5. I've updated my original post to add in one more item: Mitsui Bluetooth USB Adaptor WIF-0402C (used only twice only to find out it doesn't work on my Palm Tungsten) SG$50 (New SG$94) Also lowered the prices one last time before I put it up to Head-Fi. Don't be afraid to make me an offer. I don't bite you can send me a Private Message by using the PM button below.
  6. Ablaze: Is it possible for you to add in more forum sub headings? E.g. say a 'General discussion' and to split the 'Headphones & Amps' into individual headings rather than under one. Could even have a 'DIY section'. I noticed there are a few handy members already. You must admit, the member count is growing steadily so more & more threads are appearing.
  7. Ablaze: How did you attach the photo directly on to the thread? I know you click on the 'image' button 1st then after that which URL from YahooBriefcase do you use? I'm having trouble getting my photos to load directly.
  8. You're right there gryphon1972, ever since I seriously got into headphones my current speaker based system sounds lacking in detail & separation: same CD source & DAC->Naim Nait 2->Castle Trent speakers with Naim cables/Acoustic Energy AE100 with biwired QED Qudos cables.
  9. Great, make sure you bring along some of your fav CDs & your current headphones to make comparison. Post your impressions here for us too.
  10. Ahhh I see... thought it was additional cooling for a car or summink! Same principle like the current 911 Porsches, very quiet now that they have moved from air cooled to watercooled. Added benefit of higher performance from an equivalent sized engine... but I diagress.
  11. Right on Brother! Just had to be PC (politically correct) there.
  12. That's why there was a vague 2nd sentence in my previous post ablaze. I should have said it is a good all in one package. (I wish I could fit it all in a notebook!) I was thinking more on the lines of hardware upgrade though. EAC & lossless works on a HDD but if you burn onto a CD the weak link is the burning process in some CD Drives if the pits are not precise then that's where errors can occur hence copies are not really perfect. However you probably have a top of the line CD-RW anyway But hey, as long as YOU enjoy it & it fits YOUR requirements. More power to you dude.
  13. Thought you guys might be interested in this ingenious DIYer on Head-Fi http://www.richat.com/~mhamel/mouseamp/
  14. Hey... what a friends for... Plus I still owe you & Dreamslacker a belanja at Starbucks!
  15. Naim Headline not a proper headphone amp?! I'm shocked! What would a proper headphone amp be? Or did you mean that you don't have a proper headphone amp for at home. I wouldn't mind a Headline for office use!
  16. Yes indeedy thanks for the plug gryphon1972 but unfortunately he won't be able to audition it since I'm all the way on the 'Savage' Island of Borneo. I can't say whether the CHA47 or Total Airhead will be what he/she is looking for in terms of sound. I've only heard it on Senn HD600, Grado RS-1, Etys ER-4S, Grado SR-80, Koss KSC-35 & Senn MX-400. The CHA47 will work fine on both portable or home use but the TAH can't be used on a high output source as I noticed the amp clips even at low volumes. Can be cured by using attenuators on the interconnects though. Original plan was to bring all the portable amps to Spore for a future head-fi meet & might even sell it off to interested partied but things change, I need the money sooner than expected.
  17. I think what Ramesih & myself don't understand is that for the kind of money you are spending on soundcard hardware you can easily afford a dedicated mid-fi stuff which is more flexible & more upgrade friendly. Still, different folks different strokes I suppose & I can still relate to your enthusiazm though!
  18. I figured as much... it was worth a try
  19. Well, you never know... so far today I haven't had a chance to check out Head-Fi. Visited here first!
  20. I really like the idea when the enclosure has an easlily removable lid so that I can see the 'guts'. It's a guy thing!
  21. Cool jtfoo! More 'local' cases I say! I'm thinking of fabricating my own external battery pack soon. Gotta start somewhere! This amp & others are typical of the builder's (JMT) quality of construction. Yes, even though I am not even sure what those Elna Cerafine does they look very tasty! Neutrik socket, well, what can I say? The specs were specified initially with concessions to portability but discussions are being made right now to upgrade the buffers to quad EL2002 like ablaze's plus a 4700uF, 35v Nichicon "Gold Tune" cap & some other minor adjustments to the resistors. This should bring it closer to a Maxed Out META. Anything more & I'd probably just get a Gilmore.
  22. Northern Oak: If you decide to let go of your D66SL let me know.

Thanks Nothern Oak, I remember seeing this website before but I forgot the URL.
  24. Try this link for the pics: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/naz7577/lst?....src=bc&.view=t Thanks for the explaination Firefox.
  25. Excellent work jtfoo. There's something about a wooden enclosure that makes me go "aww..." I really admire ppl who can DIY. I nearly bought a soldering iron today... thought to myself "NAhhh!!! Not ready yet" I continually procrastinate it everytime I pass by the electrical doo dads section. Trouble is, it's hard to find components. The tools are ok though. Is it easier in SPore?
