well.... it realli depends on e user... flash drives r alot more durable than HDD.... partly coz HDD wears n tears due to itz spinning disc... plus u carn possibly carry a HDD out to jog... far too dangerous rt... i agree tt 8gig is super costly now... wait for a few mths... prices will drop drastically...

O_O... i always thot sensitivity n impendence are linked... iM716 has a impedence of 68ohms in HD & 37 ohms in bass mode... n i think e sound sig of iM716 and ety is v close.. if not almost similar.. to say tt ety and iM716 is similar only in the earpiece (does he mean the eartips and the plastic casing??) is lk tryin to imply tt iM716 is ridin on the waves of ety and Don Wilson is being qt hostile to e idea... hmm...

i went to wiki too... e def too chimmmm~ for me already... erm mayb i narrow down my qn.. watz e diff betw a "closed-in" and "wider" in terms of headroom??

anyw... go try several DAPs before commiting ya... fyi... iriver n iaudio DAPs can also b rockboxed... but do note tt rockbox = no warrenty so ya~

erm.... if ure gg comex... give iriver e10 & iaudio m5l or x5l a try b4 commiting to nano... they r better than nano in terms of sound quality... but they r a lil on the higher side...

erm... u can try iriver e10... saw it at SE... not sure of e performance thou... no one here owns/ gave a review on it... u can try askin aron bout it ... if not... h10 is an apple to e eye... thou i feel tt it has some bugs tt irritated me at times( turn on itself, lcd and musci produced doesnt match... but u can rockbox it...

i personnally prefer iriver... but considering iaudio cowon now... coz iaudio6 haf a higher output of 30mW + 30mW as compared to iriver e10's 18mW + 18mW... hmmm... which shld i take...
