  1. the last page of today's life (4th march) has an article about some band called the observatory. they're wearing beyers!
  2. should be going there someday to try it out with 501s! cant wait. guys, sorry if i came across as a bit edgy in my last posts - not been a good week for me. i'm awaiting my 'a' level results now and i feel like there's a really really good chance that i wont do well.
  3. i dont think it just does well with 2 headphones naz.. and racey, got figures to back up your assertion?
  4. ops.. i didnt know.. anywhere i can view more info of cm5 and where to purchase it? best denki and hung brothers.
  5. naz, iirc, they apparently are better with senns than the ha-2/prehead. it should be interesting to try out one of these. someday i guess when i get my 650s. guess the hr-2/perreaux/emp league has a new addition huh?
  6. New Head-fi flavour of the month???? nah... current head-fi amp FOTM is the xp-7 or hr-2.
  7. it's available for audition at Adelphi. at soundscape and audionote. and actually the latest version is the 'solo' (no caps) i believe, after the mkiii. it was tuned to the senn and grado line iirc.
  8. slightly, but dont get your hopes too high! what's nice about them is that they are phones you can really relax to - the er4p keeps me rivetred to detail. as in, imo they are phones you can play 'background' music on.
  9. correct. the shiny side goes in first.
  10. oh, if you DO get etys, please buy extra grey (mid-sized) foamies. they do wonders to the sound. if you find that you still prefer the silicones, then do pm me abt selling me the foamies.
  11. alchemist - imho wrong. e2s imo are good with classical, but in a different way from the er4p. i've owned both the e2 and currently own the er4p. these 2 happen to be the most popular 'higher-end' in-ear earphone (not counting the ex-71 in higher-end here.. ) the e2 is good for classical in the sense that it is very forgiving. it makes mono recordings sound less strange through earphones and it's full midrange helps beef up thin sounding recordings, which are common in classical. however it's flaw is that it smears the detail, leaving you with some . however, at it's price point, it's unbeatable for the classical-loving poor man. a bonus is that they have a 'fun' sound, full midrange, good (non-boomy) bass for an in-ear, but slightly unclear highs. as for the er4p, it's a step up. harshly miked deutsche gramophon (they usually are, believe me) recordings have their harsh edge exposed. however, i dont think you can fault them for being accurate. pace and timing are way better on the etys than the e2s.
  12. wait.. what's a BB amp? i dont believe i've heard of it before..
  13. wow.. thanks rameish! do you happen to own 225s? does anyone around here own 225s? am really -really- curious about them.
  14. hrmm ok.. i see. anyone got any other comments? rameish? (hint hitn HINT)
  15. wow! anything would seem 'smooth in the higher ends' compared to those 2! could you explain 'warm midrange' a little more in detail?
  16. thanks for your pm AugustineRS, the first post has been updated accordingly to reflect your reservations.
  17. hey all, i'm starting to get the itch again - in particular, i'm especially curious about grados. i'm curious about the sr225 and sr325 in particular - why? because these are the 2 that i hear almost universal praise for. cant say the same for the sr60, sr80 or even the rs1. does anyone out there have this? my reference points are a pair of dt880 and an er4p. could someone tell me how these 2 grados compare to my current inventory of phones sound-wise? what is their sonic signature like? i have only heard a pair of sr60s and imo they sound terrible - harsh. what sort of music will pair well with the sr225/325? please give this some serious thought - i've had quite enough of people who immediatey respond 'rock' as a reflex action. what makes grados so special, asides from their styling? rameish maybe? anyone?
  18. then so would the e888. add that to the fac that it's near-to-impossible to find here nowadays, and you have yourself one hell of a combo. btw after skimming through the thread - i dont believe you stated your budget anywhere. nor your music tastes. nor your equipment.
  19. congrats! but... you should see what etys are capable of then..
  20. imo, that moustache guy is having a negative impact on their business.
  21. first post has been updated accordingly.

  23. i think he meant that it is unavailable now as it has been out of production for some time. but if you are looking for an alternative to the e888 headphonescrazy (iirc) once compared and concluded that the AT 'stick' earbuds had a similiar sonic signature to the e888 but sounded better overall. ymmv.
