Theory_87, I tried what you tried, the crossroads and the ldm+ connected together makes it a pretty good preamp and amp set-up. The sound is pretty solid and I don't really think the two of them bundled together makes them any less portable.

Anyone know if it is possible to audition the Aego M at City Electronics. Interested in finding out how these compare with the ESI nEar 04

My thoughts, exactly. From what I have heard the Xenos amps basically just strengthens the signal, does not quite smooth out the edges as much as the LDM+ and the Crossroad. I think the crossroads has got a nice muscial synergy going for it. By the way, heard you liked the ESI nEar 05 speakers, those sound really awesome don't they? Actually after you left, I was trying out the nEar 04 with my iAudio X5L and they really sound good. Think it is quite source dependent.

I agree, the crossroad amp has got this really silky and smooth sound to it. so far the ldm+ treble sounds a bit harsh. I think the ldm+ might be a bit on the bright side. Hopefully it sounds better after burning it.

I agree with Mackie, best not risk avoiding paying GST, might end up getting fined which will be worse. The GST amount to be paid depends on what conversion rate customs uses so could be a bit more or a bit less.

If have to pay GST, it should be okay. Probably only less than $5. Think it is hard to convince them that that quantity of goods would qualify as gifts. Guess it would only work if you are shipping one or two items.

Dunno if any local DIYers do mods on headphones here, but you can check out www.headphile.com for the guy who does the darth beyers and a few other mods.

I think there is a chance we might have to pay GST for the shipment if they have opened up the box.

You can read all the reviews till the cows come home and it will never give you any idea what the cans really sound like. The only way to choose if to bring along music that you are familiar with and audtion the cans that you are considering. It all boils down to what your ears like, but if you have tested out enough cans, from my own personal point of view, it all depends on what kind of sound you are in the mood for.

Next time if you're free, drop by to try them again. Obviously they did not have a proper fit, or they have tin ears. Believe it or not, that guy tried all 3 sizes. But its he's ears, so if he prefers he's ipod earphone, so be it. Think it is a white thing. Some iPod users have trouble getting earphones that are not white.

You can audition the UM1s at Jaben which is at Adephi which is just across from Funan Centre. The shop is situated at the $th floor. Just go in and ask to try it. Uncle Wilson is quite friendly. Bring along your iPod as source.

For $170 you should be able to get a Westone UM1, or ETY ER6i at $150 through mail order. Audio Technica CK7 is around $110 plus. Shure E2c should be around $168 - $170. It all depends on what you prefer your music to sound like. Best to try them out before making a choice.

Edifier H260, Creative EP630, Sharp MD33 and Senn CX300 are all made by the same ODM company which is Fosters of Japan. Only thing is the CX300 has a different driver. The other three should be the same product, just rebranded. As for the CK7, I think it is a totally different product altogether.
